Ballymote. 40^ 52. Of the Dialogue of the Two Sages there are many
copies, the oldest being in Rawl. B. 502, £f. 60b—62'', and in the Book of
Leinster, pp. 186—188. The Wrong Judgments of Carat-nia are preserved
in Rawl. B. 502, fo, 62''. He was chief judge to Conn of the Hundred
Battles, and his judgments, though prima facie erroneous, were correct
owing to the existence of special circumstances taking the case out of
the ordinary rule.

Tara p. 116 and LL. 29^. The mid is probably = mid gen. meda 'mead'.

eclais dar sarugud a thusnigthe (Rev. Celt. II 386) = "invitis paren-
tibus ad ecclesiam confugit", Sulp. Sev. De vita B. Mart. 1. Hennessy
strangely misunderstood this phrase. He took the passage in which it
occurs to mean that supplications preferred in favour of an iniquitous
man like Carbre amounted to an insult to the gods.
