198. Fiacha Baicida son of Catháir the Great, why was<br />

he so called? Easy to say. When the battle of Mag Ága<br />

took place between Cathair the Great and Conn son of Fed-<br />

limid Rechtaid, Catháh-'s son Fiacha and Aihll Gabra of the<br />

Tribes of Tara met in the battle. Ailill wo<strong>und</strong>ed Fiacha, severing<br />

a sinew of his leg, so that he became lame (hacach). Hence<br />

he was called Fiacha Baicida. He was (also) called Fiacha<br />

Aicida, because he lived near {i n-aici) his brother Ross Failge,<br />

having got no land because of his youth. Hence Fiacha Aicida<br />

was said of him.<br />

asleep. His brothers went to the place where he lay, and they<br />

waken him out of his sleep. Then said every one to him:<br />

"That is spiritless (tim), O Eochaid", say they: "slothful is the<br />

sleep in which you are". Hence (the name) Eochaid Timine<br />

clave to him.<br />
