<strong>Orange</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> – Chapter 16: Consumer <strong>and</strong> Employee Interactions<br />

<strong>Pfizer</strong>’s goal when communicating with consumers is to provide useful <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong>able information<br />

about conditions <strong>and</strong> treatment options that will help patients partner with their healthcare provider to<br />

make more informed decisions about their treatment.<br />

As with HCPs, your discussions with consumers must comply with all FDA regulations, <strong>and</strong> all<br />

information provided to consumers:<br />

Must be accurate <strong>and</strong> not misleading;<br />

May only make claims when supported by substantial evidence;<br />

Must reflect a balance between the risks <strong>and</strong> benefits of a product; <strong>and</strong><br />

Must be consistent with FDA-approved labeling.<br />

Colleagues are permitted to provide to consumers Review Committee-approved (RC-approved) disease<br />

state <strong>and</strong> product information approved for consumers in the following circumstances:<br />

At consumer events such as community health fairs, health screenings, state fairs <strong>and</strong><br />

disease management events where <strong>Pfizer</strong> has the opportunity to set up a display or exhibit;<br />

<strong>and</strong><br />

At speaker programs or presentations organized by <strong>Pfizer</strong> specifically for consumers, using<br />

RC-approved consumer slide decks.<br />

Non-compliance with these policies puts the Company at risk <strong>and</strong> can subject <strong>Pfizer</strong> colleagues to<br />

disciplinary actions up to <strong>and</strong> including termination.<br />
