<strong>Orange</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> – Chapter 3: Support of External Organizations<br />

completeness, alignment with clinical areas of interest, compliance with <strong>Pfizer</strong> policies, <strong>and</strong><br />

other requirements. Requestors will receive an e-mail notification when the request is<br />

approved or denied. Approved healthcare-related charitable contributions will be funded<br />

through the MEG budget.<br />

Policy-focused healthcare charitable contributions are contributions to third-party not-for-profit<br />

organizations where the funds are to be used for the organization’s specific mission-related activities<br />

that align with <strong>Pfizer</strong>’s public policy goals. This includes, but is not limited to, patient education on<br />

public policy issues, policy-related access to healthcare issues, <strong>and</strong> support of charities whose general<br />

mission is to further healthcare policy (<strong>and</strong> does not include healthcare professionals’ continuing<br />

medical education or disease state, medical or clinically-focused activities).<br />

Example: Charitable contribution to the Georgia Medical Society for education of members<br />

on healthcare reform.<br />

Colleagues that May Provide Funding: PEAC only.<br />

Approval Process: Requests must be submitted by appropriate colleagues using the<br />

Funding Request Form at http://InterAct.<strong>Pfizer</strong>.com. All such requests are subject to review<br />

<strong>and</strong> approval by Legal.<br />

“Special Events” are contributions to third party not-for-profit organizations whose goals align with<br />

<strong>Pfizer</strong>’s public policy goals to help fund their fundraising dinners, walks, biking <strong>and</strong> golf events, galas,<br />

awards ceremonies, <strong>and</strong> other similar events. Special Events are activities that do not present tangible<br />

benefits to <strong>Pfizer</strong> (<strong>and</strong> are therefore ineligible for sponsorship funding).<br />

Examples: Financial support of a Multiple Sclerosis Society walkathon.<br />

Colleagues in the U.S. Biopharmaceutical Business <strong>and</strong> <strong>Pfizer</strong> Medical are prohibited from<br />

providing funding for Special Events but may refer organizations to the Special Events<br />

page on <strong>Pfizer</strong>’s website(www.pfizer.com/grants<strong>and</strong>contributions/specialevents/).<br />
