Attendance at Continuing Medical Education Events<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> – Chapter 2: Detailing to HCPs<br />

Continuing medical education lectures (CME) often take place during conventions or Congresses at<br />

which Sales Colleagues may be present. Sales Colleagues’ attendance at CME-accredited programs can<br />

present legal, perception <strong>and</strong> other risks. Therefore, in the case of widely attended medical congresses<br />

or conventions, Sales Colleagues may attend CME-accredited lectures, provided that the following<br />

guidance is followed:<br />

Attendance must be occasional;<br />

You must not engage in promotional activity at the CME event; <strong>and</strong><br />

You must avoid initiating conversations with prescribers <strong>and</strong> you should not discuss <strong>Pfizer</strong><br />

products if you are approached by an HCP while at the CME event.<br />

However, you should not attend CME events that are likely to involve substantial discussion of<br />

investigational <strong>Pfizer</strong> compounds or issues that are inconsistent with labeling for an approved <strong>Pfizer</strong><br />

product.<br />

Except where permitted by any applicable BU policy exception, you should not attend any other CME<br />

events. If you are uncertain if it is permissible for you to attend a CME event, please contact your<br />

Regional Attorney.<br />
