How the Law Impacts <strong>Pfizer</strong> Colleague Activities<br />

Colleagues who detail HCPs in D.C. must complete <strong>and</strong> submit a license application to the D.C. Board of<br />

Pharmacy. You must have a valid pharmaceutical detailer license before calling on an HCP in D.C.<br />

<strong>Pfizer</strong> speakers must be licensed as well, <strong>and</strong> Sales Colleagues should not hold speaker programs in<br />

D.C. unless the speaker has a SafeRx license. It is your responsibility to apply for your license, <strong>and</strong><br />

application costs will be reimbursed by <strong>Pfizer</strong>.<br />

The license application materials are available online at the District of Columbia Board of Pharmacy<br />

website. The license application requires submission of an affidavit to abide by a Code of Ethics, which<br />

prohibits, along with other requirements: (1) sending messages of disappointment for failing to<br />

prescribe certain medications; <strong>and</strong> (2) continuing to make sales calls after the healthcare professional<br />

has requested in writing not to receive further calls.<br />

The following materials are necessary to complete the application:<br />

A completed, signed DC application form;<br />

Two (2) recent passport photos (2x2);<br />

One (1) clear copy of a U.S. government-issued photo ID;<br />

Social Security Number or a Sworn Affidavit;<br />

Name Change Documents (Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree or Court Order) if<br />

applicable;<br />

Official certificate of graduation in a sealed envelope or notarized Waiver of Educational<br />

Requirements form;<br />

Notarized Affidavit to Abide by Code of Ethics form;<br />

A criminal background check; <strong>and</strong><br />

$175 for the Application <strong>and</strong> License Fee in the form of a check, money order or certified<br />

check payable to the D.C. Treasurer, which you should submit for reimbursement in PT&E.<br />

Impacted colleagues will need to renew their license each even numbered year prior to the end of<br />

February. Colleagues should plan to submit their application by December 31st of the preceding year to<br />
