DPR submitted by M/s JPVL was for an installed<br />

capacity of 2,400 MW. After series of meetings/<br />

discussions, value additions were made by CEA/<br />

CWC, changes in layout were suggested due to<br />

which, it has been possible to accommodate one<br />

more generating unit of 300 MW thus increasing<br />

installed capacity of project from 2,400 MW to<br />

2,700 MW and increasing design energy from 12,478<br />

GWh to 13,237 GWh.<br />

Concurrence of CEA to Siang Lower HE project<br />

for installed capacity of 2,700 MW was accorded on<br />

15.2.2010.<br />

11.4.2 Subansiri Basin Projects –<br />

Arunachal Pradesh<br />

The originally identified project envisaged<br />

installed capacity of 4,800 MW. Subsequently,<br />

Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh accorded approval<br />

for <strong>development</strong> of three separate projects in<br />

place of earlier single project proposal in order<br />

to avoid submergence of Daporijo town and also<br />

to reduce displacement of people and to have<br />

minimal impact on the environment. The three<br />

separate schemes envisage total capacity of<br />

5,600 MW and are as under:<br />

11.4.3 Tipaimukh Dam Project (6x250<br />

= 1500 MW) – Manipur<br />

Tipaimukh H. E. Project is a multipurpose<br />

project involving hydro <strong>power</strong> generation, flood<br />

control and irrigation. The scheme envisages<br />

construction of a dam across river Barak<br />

immediately downstream of the confluence of the<br />

Tuivai River. The scheme envisages an installed<br />

capacity of 1,500 MW (6x250 MW). The project<br />

was entrusted to M/s NEEPCO for execution.<br />

However, lately MoP vide its letter dated 06.07.09<br />

communicated that the implementation of the<br />

project would be done through a Joint Venture<br />

"Electricity is life: Conserve it."<br />
