the previous year, registering an increase of
8.1%. The energy shortage during the year
2009-10, therefore, decreased from 86001
MUs to 83950 MUs registering a decrease
of 2.4%. The peak demand during the year
2009-10 was 119,166 MW as against 109,809
MW during the previous year, registering
an increase of 8.5%. The peak demand met
during the aforesaid period was 104,009 MW
as against 96,785 MW during the previous
year, registering an increase of 7.5%. However
the peak shortage increased from 13,024 MW
(11.9%) to 15,157 MW (12.7%). An overview
of power supply position in terms of energy
and peak demand for the period from 1997-98
to 2009-10 is presented in Exhibit-I and
Exhibit-II respectively. The State / Regionwise
power supply position during the year
2009-10 is enclosed at Annexure-4A.
