5.14 Achievement during the year<br />
2009-10<br />
The following eight schemes (one from<br />
Central Sector & seven from State Sector)<br />
having an aggregate installed capacity of about<br />
2350 MW (installed capacity of Dehar Ph. B not<br />
included in the total as it has been accounted<br />
for in the other scheme namely Dehar Ph. A of<br />
same station) have been completed during the<br />
year 2009-10 at an actual cost of Rs. 59 Crores<br />
and accrued benefits of 330 MW through life<br />
extension.<br />

i) Inquiry Committee for Accident at<br />
Sabirigiri HEP (Kerala)<br />
An Inquiry Committee was constituted<br />
under the chairmanship of Chief Engineer<br />
(HE&RM) to find the causes of accident and<br />
Renovation & Modernization (R&M) works<br />
undertaken by M/s VA Tech. The committee<br />
submitted its report on causes of accident<br />
to KSEB on 17.11.2008. The team of CEA<br />
engineers visited the project from 15.03.2009<br />
to 20.03.2009. The report on R&M works has<br />
been finalized and sent to KSEB.<br />
5.16 Programme for the year 2010-11<br />
For the year 2010-11, it is programmed to<br />
complete eight (8) schemes having an installed<br />
capacity of 2738 MW (installed capacity of<br />
Nagjhari U-4 to 6 of KPCL is not included in<br />
the total as it has been accounted for in the other<br />
scheme namely Nagjhari, U-1 to U-6 of same<br />
station which is programmed for completion<br />
during the year 2009-10). On completion<br />
of these schemes, there will be a benefit of<br />
422 MW through Life Extension & Uprating at<br />
an estimated cost of about Rs. 310 crores.<br />

5.17 Concurrence of CEA to Hydro<br />
Electric Schemes<br />
After the enactment of The Electricity<br />
Act, 2003 and its coming into force w.e.f. 10 th<br />
June, 2003, the Central Electricity Authority<br />
is required to accord concurrence to Hydro<br />
Generation Schemes estimated to involve a<br />
capital expenditure exceeding such sum as may<br />
be fixed by the Central Government from time to<br />
time, as per provisions of Section 8 of this Act.<br />
