‣ Load flow studies carried out to study the<br />
revised project report for infrastructural<br />
<strong>development</strong> at 220 kV & 132 kV<br />
transmission level under Prime Minister's<br />
Reconstruction Plan for J&K State was<br />
examined and fresh load flow studies<br />
were carried out with the proposals and<br />
recommended the same to MoP.<br />
‣ Transmission planning studies for<br />
strengthening of 400 kV and 220 kV network<br />
in northern part of Tamil Nadu.<br />
3.10 Consultancy services and assistance<br />
to various utilities<br />
(i) Power Development Department, Govt.<br />
of J&K: 220kV and 132kV Transmission<br />
Projects under Prime Minister’s<br />
Reconstruction Program.<br />
(ii) Bhutan Power Corporation, Govt. of<br />
Bhutan: 132kV and 66kV Transmission<br />
and substation works.<br />
(iii) WAPCOS: Transmission and Substation<br />
work relating to Salma Hydro Project,<br />
Afghanistan.<br />
(iv) Damodar Valley Corporation: Design<br />
of 220kV Multicircuit, 132kV and 33kV<br />
Transmission Line Towers.<br />
(v) Assistance to Delhi Transco Ltd. and<br />
APTRANSCO in the preparation of<br />
technical specification and evaluation of<br />
tenders for 220 kV & 132 kV XLPE Cables<br />
and GIS Substation.<br />
3.10.1 Representation/Nomination in the<br />
Committees<br />
(a) A Committee under the Chairmanship<br />
of Chief Engineer (SETD), CEA was<br />
constituted to investigate causes of failure<br />
and to suggest remedial measures to avert/<br />
minimize the recurrence in respect of the<br />
following:-<br />
i) Transmission line towers of 220kV &<br />
above Voltage Class<br />
ii) Various substation equipment of<br />
220 kV and above Voltage Class<br />
(b) CEA is representsed on Electro-technical<br />
Division Council and Indian National<br />
Committee- International Electro-technical<br />
Commission and Chairman of Conductors<br />
and Accessories for Overhead Lines<br />
Sectional Committee.<br />
3.11 Analysis of causes of failure of<br />
Transmission Line Tower & Substation<br />
equipment<br />
3.11.1 Transmission Line Towers Failure<br />
of 400 kV line Towers<br />
Failures of 400 kV transmission line<br />
towers of Power Grid were investigated<br />
and remedial measures suggested. Standing<br />
Committee of Experts headed by CE (SETD),<br />
CEA submitted report in respect of the<br />
following lines:-<br />
1. 400 kV Dadri-Ballabhgarh D/C Line<br />
2. 400 kV Allahabad- Mainpuri D/C Line<br />
3. 400 kV Jabalpur-Itarsi D/C Line<br />
4. 400 kV Dadri- Mandola D/C Line<br />
5. 400 kV Vindhyachal- Jabalpur ckt.-I & II<br />

6. 400 kV Farakka-Sagardighi Circuit-I and<br />
Farrakka- Durgapur Line<br />
7. 400 kV Kanpur-Ballabhgarh S/C Line<br />

8. 400kV Korba- Bhilai circuit-I S/C Line<br />
9. 400 kV Khandwa-Dhule D/C Line<br />
