11.11 Hydro Power Generation Performance<br />

Hydro <strong>power</strong> generation during the year<br />

2009-10 in the North-eastern Region is 3416.80*<br />

MU against a target of 4404.00 MU, which<br />

shows 77.58 % achievement.<br />

11.12 Ministry of Development of Northeastern<br />

Region (DONER)<br />

1. The following ST&D schemes of NE States<br />

for funding under NLCPR were technically<br />

cleared-<br />

• Scheme for complete electrification of<br />

Lord Buddha Statue including garden<br />

along with conversion of existing<br />

overhead LT lines into U/G cables with<br />

modernization and refurbishment of<br />

existing electrical network at Rabong<br />

Bazar in South Sikkim.<br />

• Scheme for installation of 1x15 MVA<br />

Transformer & extension bay at<br />

66/11 kV Substation, Mamring, South<br />

Sikkim.<br />

• Scheme for erection of 33 kV line from<br />

Mebo to Dambuk for evacuation of<br />

<strong>power</strong> in Arunachal Pradesh.<br />

2. The following schemes were examined<br />

for NE States and comments were sent to<br />

DONER/ NE States–<br />

• Scheme for construction of 33 kV<br />

transmission line from Namchi to<br />

Damthang and Temi and Sub-station at<br />

Temi/Damthang in Sikkim for funding<br />

under NLCPR.<br />

• Scheme for erection of 11 kV line from<br />

132/33 kV Karong S/s to Senapati New<br />

Secretariat Complex with installation<br />

of new distribution transformers in<br />

Manipur to be funded under NLCPR.<br />

• Scheme for installation of 2x2.5 MVA,<br />

3 /11 kV S/s along with associated<br />

33 kV line at Mao in Manipur, to be<br />

funded under NLCPR.<br />

• Scheme for construction of 66/11 kV,<br />

2x2.5. MVA S/s at Old Namchi and<br />

upgradation of 2x2.5 MVA S/s to 2x7.5<br />

MVA S/s at Namchi, Sikkim to be<br />

funded under NLCPR.<br />

11.13 Status of Rural Electrification in<br />

North-eastern Region<br />

During 2009-10 (upto Feb. 2010), 6 (six)<br />

inhabited villages have been electrified and no<br />

pumpsets have been energized. Cumulatively,<br />

29,665 inhabited villages constituting 73.5%<br />

have been electrified out of a total of 40,377<br />

inhabited villages and 8,844 pumpsets have been<br />

energized in the North-eastern States.<br />

11.14 The issues pertaining to Sectoral<br />

Development of Power System in<br />

the North-eastern Region<br />

(i) Sectoral meeting on Development of<br />

Power System in the North-eastern<br />

Region<br />

The Sub-Group, constituted under the<br />

chairmanship of Member (Power System),<br />

CEA, tabled a report on comprehensive<br />

transmission, sub-transmission and distribution<br />

system in NER & Sikkim in Dec. 2007 in<br />

consultation with the States of NER and<br />

POWERGRID. The scheme was formulated in<br />

three phases/ Phase-I during 2007-11, Phase-II<br />

during 2011-14 and Phase-III during 2014-17.<br />

Subsequently, the job for preparation of DPR<br />

was entrusted to M/s PGCIL.<br />

Accordingly, POWERGRID has prepared<br />

and submitted a DPR in January 2010 covering<br />

requirements of intra-State and inter-State<br />

transmission, sub-transmission and State-wise<br />

distribution system in NER and Sikkim at an<br />

estimated cost of Rs 9890.17 Crores. The details<br />

of the estimated cost are given below:<br />
