2.5 Standing Committee on Derating,<br />
Uprating and Retirement of Installed<br />
Capacity of Stations<br />
A Standing Committee is constituted<br />
under the chairmanship of Member (Planning)<br />
for considerating the proposals of derating,<br />
uprating & retirement of electricity generating<br />
capacity of <strong>power</strong> stations.<br />
The Committee considers the<br />
performance of the units, analyzes the<br />
performance data vis-a-vis the overall<br />
generation throughout the life of the plant<br />
and carries out detailed scrutiny of technical<br />
parameters of the proposed units. Keeping in<br />
view the merits of the proposals from case to<br />
case, the committee makes recommendations<br />
for the approval of the Chairperson/Authority.<br />
During the year 2009-10, the proposal of<br />
extension of temporary deration of Loktak<br />
HE Station (3x35MW) to (3x30MW) was<br />
approved. The proposals of following <strong>power</strong><br />
generating units are under consideration<br />

2.6 Implementation of initiative of<br />
Working Group-III on 'National<br />
Mission on Enhanced Energy<br />
Efficiency' for retirement of TPS in<br />
11 th Plan.<br />
Ministry of Power, under National<br />
Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) has<br />
initiated 'National Mission on Enhanced Energy<br />
Efficiency' (NMEEE) considering retirement<br />
of old small sized inefficient <strong>thermal</strong> units. As<br />
a follow-up to the recommendation of NMEEE<br />
regarding retirement of old and inefficient<br />
<strong>thermal</strong> generating units, CEA has undertaken<br />
an exercise by identification of <strong>thermal</strong> units for<br />
phased retirement during 11 th & 12 th Plan periods.<br />
