a. Observe and recognize examples of
slow changes in the Earth’s surface and
surface materials (e.g., rock, soil layers)
due to processes such as decay (rotting),
freezing, thawing, breaking, or wearing
away by running water or wind.

a. Students will take a nature walk around the
school grounds looking for examples of
weathering/erosion. They will observe and
brainstorm why and how weathering/erosion
would occur. (1.2; 1.10; 3.1)
Students will illustrate a picture of a hillside and
the changes that would occur over time due to
weathering/erosion.
