Il fosfato <strong>di</strong> calcio si può ottenere me<strong>di</strong>ante precipitazione da soluzioni acquose<br />
sovrassature <strong>di</strong> ioni <strong>di</strong> calcio e fosforo. Ciò comporta, come <strong>per</strong> altri sali<br />
moderatamente solubili, <strong>la</strong> formazione <strong>di</strong> fasi metastabili le quali, con il procedere<br />
del<strong>la</strong> reazione, spariscono [ 128 ].<br />
La stabilità o l’instabilità del fosfato <strong>di</strong> calcio in soluzione è <strong>di</strong>rettamente corre<strong>la</strong>ta<br />
con il meccanismo <strong>di</strong> formazione delle fasi. Infatti alcuni precipitati possono<br />
essere ottenuti dal<strong>la</strong> precipitazione in soluzioni sovrassature a tem<strong>per</strong>atura<br />
ambiente, mentre altri possono formarsi da reazioni allo stato solido ad alte<br />
tem<strong>per</strong>ature [ 128 ] [ 129 ]. In tal senso è possibile fare <strong>la</strong> seguente c<strong>la</strong>ssificazione:<br />
1) Processi ad alte tem<strong>per</strong>ature ( T> 500°C ):<br />
• DCP è ottenuto dal<strong>la</strong> precipitazione alle alte tem<strong>per</strong>ature ed è<br />
leggermente più stabile del DCPD ottenuto a tem<strong>per</strong>atura ambiente;<br />
• β-TCP è stabile a 1180°C; in acqua è più stabile del DCP e del OCP ma<br />
meno stabile del CDHA in un intervallo <strong>di</strong> variazione del pH tra 6 e 8;<br />
• α-TCP ottenuto <strong>per</strong> riscaldamento sopra i 1180°C, conserva <strong>la</strong> propria<br />
struttura quando si porta a tem<strong>per</strong>atura ambiente (quenching). In acqua è<br />
meno stabile del DCPD e dell’OCP;<br />
• SHA è ottenuta da riscaldamento tra i 700-1400°C ed è stabile come<br />
l’idrossiapatite povera <strong>di</strong> calcio;<br />
• TTCP è ottenuto da riscaldamento sopra i 1500°C e conserva <strong>la</strong> propria<br />
struttura quando viene raffreddato a tem<strong>per</strong>atura ambiente; in acqua è<br />
meno stabile <strong>di</strong> SDHA,CDHA,DCPD e OCP;<br />
Accanto ad essi si forma anche dell’ossido <strong>di</strong> calcio CaO ottenuto dal<br />
riscaldamento del carbonato <strong>di</strong> calcio CaCO3 al <strong>di</strong> sopra <strong>di</strong> 450°C [ 130 ].
