One wonders whether the three megara were used for the consumption
of communal meals prepared in this sector. As everywhere else
on the island, the fine pottery of Chalasmenos belongs to a koinē
comprising many Mycenaean shapes such as the deep bowls, kylikes
and certain types of amphorai. 68
