its floor was made of hard packed earth. During the earlier, Mycenaean
phase, boulders of substantial size occupied most of its
space, making it quite unlikely that there was a roof at this time. In
the remaining free space, fragments of pithoi and their lids as well as
kylikes and cooking vessels were found together with a good quantity
of animal bones as food remains. 26 House E represents a typical
example of a one-room house already existing in the Late Helladic
IIIB period and was used for a very long time. It seems to
belong to a group of single-space houses, found immediately south
of house E.
