The study of the functional typology of ceramics in Chalasmenos
showed that storage vessels represented 17% of the overall percentage
and were divided in two categories for permanent and
temporary storage. The percentage of vessels employed for food
preparation is by far the largest (57%) reflecting a real cultural situation.
Some of the short-term storage vessels (such as amphorai especially
of small size) could have been used for serving purposes as
well. The last category comprises specialised vases (less than 1%).
