sites. The project is expected to be commissioned by<br />
August 2010.<br />
9. Parbati HE Project, Stage-III (520MW), H.P<br />
Investment approval has been accorded on 9.11.2005 with<br />
commissioning date as Nov.2010. Major Civil works (2 lots)<br />
were awarded on 15.12.2005 to M/s Patel-L&T consortium<br />
and M/s Jager-Gammon JV. The river has been diverted.<br />
70% Excavation <strong>of</strong> Dam and 14% <strong>of</strong> HRT excavation<br />
completed. Adits to Desilting Chambers, Pressure Shaft,<br />
GOC, TRT and Surge Shaft bottom, GIS & Transformer<br />
caverns have been completed. In TRT, 47% excavation<br />
has been completed. E&M work has been awarded to M/s<br />
BHEL. HM works has been awarded to M/s Om Metals-<br />
SPML(JV). The project is expected to be completed as per<br />
schedule by November 2010.<br />
10. Nimoo Bazgo HE Project (45MW), J&K<br />
Investment approval has been accorded on 24.08.06 for<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> the project in 48 months i.e August 2010.<br />
Major civil works awarded to M/s H.C.C Ltd. on 23.9.06.<br />
E&M works were awarded to M/s BHEL on 12.06.07. The<br />
works are progressing satisfactorily in spite <strong>of</strong> difficult<br />
condition and river has been diverted on 22.11.07. The<br />
project is expected to be completed as per schedule.<br />
11. Chutak HE Project (44MW), J&K<br />
Investment approval has been accorded on 24.08.06 for<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> the project in 54 months i.e Feb. 2011. Major<br />
civil works have been awarded to M/s H.C.C Ltd..<br />
Excavation <strong>of</strong> Adit-1 & 3 is completed and HRT excavation<br />
started. PH ventilation tunnel excavation has been<br />
completed. E&M works have been awarded to M/s BHEL<br />
480 MW URI <strong>Power</strong> Station (J&K) - Aerial view <strong>of</strong> Barrage<br />
on 16.08.2007.The works are progressing satisfactorily in<br />
spite <strong>of</strong> difficult condition and river has been diverted on<br />
22.11.07. The project is expected to be completed as per<br />
schedule.<br />
12. Kishanganga HE Project (330 MW), J&K<br />
Investment approval has been accorded on 20.07.2007 for<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> the Project in seven years from the date <strong>of</strong><br />
sanction, i.e. by July 2014. The lowest price bid for turnkey<br />
contract package was received for Rs.2961 crores against<br />
estimated cost <strong>of</strong> Rs. 1336 crores (approx.). The case is<br />
under examination for further course <strong>of</strong> action<br />
13. Omkareshwar HE Project (520 MW), Madhya<br />
Pradesh<br />
Investment approval has been accorded on 29.05.2003 for<br />
completion by Feb.’08 and work on turnkey basis was<br />
awarded to M/s Jai Prakash – Voith Siemens Consortium,<br />
New Delhi on 09.06.2003. The Project has been completed<br />
and all 8 units have started commercial generation from<br />
15.11.2007 ahead <strong>of</strong> schedule. However due to ban by court<br />
on charging <strong>of</strong> reservoir above EL 189 m upto EL 196.60<br />
m as R&R work has not been completed by the State Govt.,<br />
full benefits <strong>of</strong> generation are not available.<br />
PROPOSED XI TH PLAN CAPACITY ADDITION<br />
PROGRAMME<br />
NHPC has proposed to commission 12 projects to add 5322<br />
MW capacity during XIth plan including one project <strong>of</strong> 520 MW<br />
in Joint Venture with Government <strong>of</strong> Madhya Pradesh has<br />
already been commissioned. Two projects with total capacity<br />
<strong>of</strong> 89 MW are included in the capacity addition programme<br />
under best effort category.
