IIM, Ahemdabad in order to identify areas <strong>of</strong> immediate<br />
concern for Organizational effectiveness, carried out a<br />
study. As a part <strong>of</strong> the Organisation transformation,<br />
Performance Management System (PMS) is being<br />
reviewed.<br />
THDC has recruited Engineer Trainees and Executive<br />
Trainees to infuse young blood in the Organisation. Their<br />
Training & Learning has been given due priority and an<br />
arrangement has been made with <strong>Power</strong> Management<br />
Institute (PMI), Noida to impart them the best <strong>of</strong> training.<br />
Various HR Policies have been reviewed to bring<br />
satisfaction amongst the employees.<br />
For promoting Career development, and avenues in<br />
executive cadre, Diploma Engineers have been enabled<br />
opportunities to pursue BS <strong>Power</strong> Course for which a tie<br />
up has been made with Birla Institute <strong>of</strong> Technology, Pilani.<br />
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT<br />
In pursuance <strong>of</strong> the National Training Policy for the <strong>Power</strong><br />
Sector enunciated by the Union <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Ministry</strong>, THDC has<br />
formulated a Training & Learning Policy for the<br />
Organisation, which is being implemented to impart training<br />
to employees through leading organizations. Employees<br />
were deputed for specialized O&M Training at N.H.P.C. /<br />
ASTIN. Also external training programmes were conducted<br />
through prestigious management/ pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
A view <strong>of</strong> Main Dam <strong>of</strong> Tehri Hydro Electric <strong>Power</strong> Station<br />
organizations like Administrative College <strong>of</strong> India,<br />
Hyderabad, Engineering Staff College <strong>of</strong> India, Hyderabad,<br />
National Productivity Council, New Delhi etc. Employees<br />
belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories were given due<br />
consideration for imparting training.<br />
EXCELLENCE IN CORPORATE COMMUNICATION<br />
THDC participated in the IITF’ 2006 at New Delhi and won<br />
the second prize in IITF-2006. THDC was first among the<br />
PSUs <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>.<br />
In addition to THDC’s in-house publication, the<br />
Gangavataranam, a special publication titled ‘THDC-An<br />
Insight’, a comprehensive document giving an insight into<br />
THDC, particularly the trials and tribulations <strong>of</strong> the<br />
prestigious Tehri Project was also released.<br />
On the historic achievement <strong>of</strong> commissioning <strong>of</strong><br />
Tehri Project, Central Board <strong>of</strong> Irrigation and <strong>Power</strong><br />
(CBIP) has brought out a special issue <strong>of</strong> its Journal<br />
“Water & Energy International” on the Tehri Dam<br />
Project, which was released by the Hon’ble Minister <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Power</strong> during a function in Feb.’07. In the special<br />
publication all the aspects <strong>of</strong> the Tehri Project have<br />
been compiled and documented by THDC<br />
engineers and others who have been associated with the<br />
Tehri Project.
