NATIONAL POWER TRAINING INSTITUTE (NPTI)<br />

INTRODUCTION<br />

National <strong>Power</strong> Training Institute (NPTI) has been set up<br />

by the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, Govt. <strong>of</strong> India, to function as the<br />

National Apex Body for Human Resource Development <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Power</strong> Sector.<br />

NPTI with its Corporate Centre at Faridabad operates on<br />

an all India basis through its five Regional Institutes located<br />

at Neyveli (Tamil Nadu), Durgapur (West Bengal), Badarpur<br />

(New Delhi), Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Guwahati (Assam)<br />

and specialized Centres viz., <strong>Power</strong> Systems Training<br />

Institute (PSTI) & Hot Line Training Centre (HLTC) at<br />

Bangalore, a Centre for Advanced Management and <strong>Power</strong><br />

Studies (CAMPS) at Faridabad (Haryana). NPTI (NE-R) is<br />

at present operating from temporary site at Narangi<br />

Complex <strong>of</strong> Assam State Electricity Board, Guwahati and<br />

a few courses are being conducted. The full-fledged training<br />

Institute at a cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.18.29 crores, is being set up at<br />

Kahilipara, Guwahati. Scheme for setting up <strong>of</strong> Hydro<br />

<strong>Power</strong> Training Centre at Nangal at an estimated<br />

cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.14.75 crores has also been sanctioned which is<br />

under implementation.<br />

HI-TECH TRAINING TOOLS<br />

The Institutes <strong>of</strong> NPTI are well equipped with Hi-Tech<br />

infrastructural facilities for conducting different courses on<br />

technical as well as management subjects covering the<br />

needs <strong>of</strong> Thermal, Hydro and Nuclear <strong>Power</strong> Plants,<br />

Transmission & Distribution Systems, and Energy related<br />

fields <strong>of</strong> the Indian <strong>Power</strong> and allied Energy sectors.<br />

MANPOWER TRAINING<br />

Several long-term and short-term training programs in the<br />

areas <strong>of</strong> Thermal, Hydro, Transmission & Distribution and<br />

Management etc. are being conducted in the various<br />

Institutes <strong>of</strong> NPTI.<br />

Besides imparting training in the areas <strong>of</strong> Thermal, Hydro<br />

and Transmission & Distribution covering nearly 10,000<br />

power pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>of</strong> various levels annually, NPTI also<br />

conducts various industry interfaced academic programs<br />

with the objective to create a pool <strong>of</strong> committed and<br />

competent pr<strong>of</strong>essionals equipped with appropriate<br />
