Project a comprehensive Satluj Basin Catchment Area<br />
Treatment Plan study has been taken up to identify the<br />
likely sources <strong>of</strong> this high silt and their locations and further<br />
remediation <strong>of</strong> the same. The above study is likely to be<br />
completed by March 2008.<br />
Resettlement & Rehabilitation<br />
SJVNL, as a responsible corporate citizen, takes utmost<br />
care for the resettlement and rehabilitation <strong>of</strong> the Project<br />
Affected Families (PAFs) whose land or house or shop get<br />
affected due to construction <strong>of</strong> the hydro electric projects.<br />
Further, appropriate compensation to all the PAFs in<br />
accordance with the extant policies <strong>of</strong> the Government and<br />
SJVNL, have been / are being made.<br />
As a result <strong>of</strong> vigorous pursuit for ensuring a fair Rehabilitation<br />
and Resettlement <strong>of</strong> the Project Affected Families, the World<br />
bank has lauded SJVNLs efforts as under :<br />
‘THE SUCCESS OF THE RESETTLEMENT ACTIVITY<br />
UNDERTAKEN IN THIS PROJECT IS QUITE RARE<br />
FOR INDIA, AND CAN BE CONSIDERED AS ONE OF<br />
THE BEST EXAMPLES OF RESETTLEMENT<br />
IMPLEMENTATION IN BANK ASSISTED PROJECTS IN<br />
INDIA. IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN EXAMPLE<br />
FOR OTHER PROJECTS.’<br />
Environment & R&R Policy<br />
SJVNL (NJPC) has adopted an environment, resettlement<br />
& rehabilitation policy which reiterates company’s<br />
commitment to sustainable development which is within the<br />
carrying capacity <strong>of</strong> the eco-system and which promotes<br />
the improvement <strong>of</strong> the quality <strong>of</strong> life.<br />
