Regional <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> the Corporation. The programme was<br />

<strong>of</strong> grand success.Various competitions, cultural<br />

programmes book exhibition were organised on this<br />

occasion. "Rajbhasha Jyoti" magazine was published to<br />

mark this occasion and 30 Rajbhasha Shields, Cash prizes<br />

and Certificates were given to the head <strong>of</strong> Departments/<br />

projects/<strong>of</strong>fices under Rajbhasha Shield scheme.<br />

24 employees were given cash award for doing noting/<br />

drafting in Hindi.<br />

In order to propagate Hindi a separate Rajbhasha Library is<br />

established at Corporate <strong>of</strong>fice Mr. Sushilkumar Shinde,<br />

Hon'ble Union Minister <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, inaugurated this Library<br />

on 23-04-2007. To create interest in Hindi books among<br />

employees, a 'Hindi Book Reading Scheme' has been<br />

introduced. A useful 'Official and Technical Glossary' has<br />

been published to facilitate employees for doing their routine<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficial work in Hindi.<br />

Quarterly meetings <strong>of</strong> Official Language Implementation<br />

Committee were held regularly in Corporate <strong>of</strong>fice as well<br />

as in various projects. Monthly meetings are being held in<br />

departments for monitoring <strong>of</strong> Implementation <strong>of</strong> Official<br />

Language policy.<br />

A grand ‘Akhil Bhartiya Rajbhasha Sammelan’ was<br />

organised at Teesta-V project on 28th & 29th June, 2007.<br />

About 50 employees participated in this sammelan.<br />

Hindi workshops were organised almost every month and about<br />

75 employees got training <strong>of</strong> new Hindi S<strong>of</strong>tware ISM V-5.<br />

To monitor progress in Implementation <strong>of</strong> Official Language<br />

policy, an internal inspection <strong>of</strong> various departments/<br />

projects/<strong>of</strong>fices has been conducted during the year. Classes<br />

were organised to impart training <strong>of</strong> Hindi language, Hindi<br />

typing and Hindi stenography to the employees. The second<br />

Tuesday <strong>of</strong> every month is being observed as 'Hindi Diwas'.<br />

In order to enhance Implementation <strong>of</strong> Official Language<br />

'Rajbhasha Desk' has also been established.<br />

Committee <strong>of</strong> Parliament on Official Language inspected<br />

Salal <strong>Power</strong> Station, Uri <strong>Power</strong> Station and Liaison <strong>of</strong>fice,<br />

Ranchi on 07-06-2007, 11-06-2007 and 03-11-2007<br />

respectively. Joint Secretary (Official Language), <strong>Ministry</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> also inspected our Corporate <strong>of</strong>fice on 06-08-2007.<br />

During all these inspections, the organisation got<br />

appreciation for implementing Official Language policy.<br />

During the year NHPC got awards viz. Rajbhasha<br />

Aabhushan from Bhartiya Bhasha and Sanskriti Kendra,<br />

Delhi and first prize from TOLlC Fairdabad. NHPC is<br />

assisting <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> in creating <strong>Power</strong> Glossary. 'Aaj<br />

ka Shabda' and 'Aaj ka Vichar' is being written and displayed<br />

on computers and boards - regularly in the Corporation.<br />

DVC<br />

Damodar Valley Corporation implemented all the schemes<br />

formulated under Official Language Policy <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Government <strong>of</strong> India as per the directives received from<br />

the Official Language Department, <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> Home Affairs<br />

and <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, Government <strong>of</strong> India.<br />

A special drive is going on in DVC to fill in the vacant post<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Hindi Cell. As a result <strong>of</strong> regular training and with the<br />

recruitment <strong>of</strong> Hindi staff, there has been a remarkable<br />

increase in the implementation <strong>of</strong> Section 3.3 <strong>of</strong><br />

Official Language Act and Rule - 5 <strong>of</strong> the Official Language<br />

Rules in DVC.<br />

Hindi classes under the Hindi Training Scheme <strong>of</strong><br />

Government <strong>of</strong> India are conducted to impart Hindi Training<br />

and to develop the working knowledge <strong>of</strong> Non-Hindi<br />

speaking employees <strong>of</strong> the Corporation. Some <strong>of</strong> the<br />

employees have also acquired the knowledge <strong>of</strong> Hindi<br />

through correspondence course. As per the Annual<br />

Programme received from the Government <strong>of</strong> India, <strong>Ministry</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> Home Affairs, Department <strong>of</strong> Official Language, DVC<br />

has already achieved the target <strong>of</strong> 65% <strong>of</strong> the training<br />

programme during the year 2007-08. Further, DVC has set<br />

the target to complete the Hindi Training by November, 2008<br />

at Headquarters and in the field formations for those<br />

employees who could not complete the programme till<br />

November, 2007. Besides this, an in-house Typing &<br />

Stenography training arrangement has been made in DVC.<br />

For completion <strong>of</strong> target fixed by <strong>Ministry</strong>, a special training<br />

plan has been prepared to train the English Typists as well<br />

as Stenographers for disposing maximum work in Hindi.<br />

Typists engaged in typing in English Version have been<br />

short listed and are provided four months' Hindi Typing<br />

Training .. Incentive scheme has been introduced for the<br />

trained Hindi Typists & Stenographers in line with the GOI<br />

guidelines. During the year under review, 12 trainees got<br />

through the Hindi typing examinations and 8 trainees<br />

cleared the Hindi Stenography Examination.<br />

Hindi Workshops are being organized regularly to remove<br />

the hesitation <strong>of</strong> Non-Hindi speaking Staff/Officers <strong>of</strong> DVC<br />

for conducting <strong>of</strong>ficial work in Hindi. During the year under<br />

review, two Official Language Workshops have been<br />

organized till date in which 40 <strong>of</strong>ficers and staff took part.<br />

During 2007-08, Hindi Diwas/Hindi Pakhwara has been<br />

organized. Several competitions related to Official<br />

Language have been organized to inspire employees for<br />

executing their <strong>of</strong>ficial work in Hindi. The winners <strong>of</strong> these<br />

competitions were awarded. On this occasion, a Kavi<br />

Sammelan comprising renowned Hindi and Bengali poets<br />

has also been organized. Besides this, a wall hoarding was<br />

inaugurated and Chairman's speech was circulated among<br />

the employees <strong>of</strong> the Corporation. One Departmental<br />

Rajbhasha Shield has been awarded to the best<br />

Department on the basis <strong>of</strong> using maximum Hindi in<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficial activities.<br />

During the year under review (2007-08), Damodar Valley<br />

Corporation has received 1st Prize from CALTOLlC<br />

(Undertaking), <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> Home Affairs, Govt <strong>of</strong> India for<br />
