7.2 Hydro <strong>Power</strong> Projects<br />
Koldam Hydroelectric <strong>Power</strong> Project (4x200MW) : Work<br />
is in progress on all the components <strong>of</strong> project such as dam,<br />
spillway, de-silting chamber, power house and switch yard.<br />
Filling work in dam area is in progress. Erection <strong>of</strong> electromechanical<br />
equipment has commenced in <strong>Power</strong> House.<br />
EOT crane has been erected and commissioned in service<br />
bay. Erection <strong>of</strong> penstock is in progress. Stay ring erected<br />
in two units. Occupancy in the township has commenced.<br />
Loharinag Pala HEPP (4x150 MW) : Work is in progress<br />
on all the main civil work packages viz. Head Race Tunnel<br />
(HRT), Barrages and Desilting Basin, Underground <strong>Power</strong><br />
House & Penstock. Hydro Mechanical (HM) package has<br />
been awarded and mobilization is underway and Electro<br />
Mechanical (EM) package tendering is under process.<br />
Tapovan Vishnugad HEPP (4x130 MW) : Work is in<br />
progress on all the main civil work packages viz. HRT,<br />
Barrages and Desilting Basin, Underground <strong>Power</strong> House<br />
& Penstock. HM package has been awarded in Oct. 07 and<br />
mobilization is underway and EM package tendering is<br />
under process.<br />
Rupsiabagar Khasiabara HEPP (260 MW) : DPR has been<br />
submitted to CEA for TEC in Nov. ’07. Works for land<br />
acquisition <strong>of</strong> project area and approach roads is in<br />
progress.<br />
Further, Govt. <strong>of</strong> Arunachal Pradesh has allocated two<br />
projects namely Etalin HEP (4000 MW) and Attunli HEP(500<br />
MW) to NTPC. Memorandum <strong>of</strong> Agreement (MOA) between<br />

Govt. <strong>of</strong> Arunachal Pradesh & NTPC was signed on<br />
21.09.2006 for execution <strong>of</strong> these projects.<br />
7.3 Coal Mining and Coal Washery<br />
7.3.1Coal Mining :<br />
(A) Allotment <strong>of</strong> Coal Mining Blocks :<br />
In addition to five coal blocks, allotted to NTPC in<br />
2005-06, Chatti Bariatu South coal block has been<br />
allotted by <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> Coal on 25.07.2007. This coal<br />
block is located in North Karanpura Coalfield in the<br />
State <strong>of</strong> Jharkhand. The share <strong>of</strong> reserves in this coal<br />
block is indicated as 354 MT.<br />
Apart from above, 2 more mine blocks at Brahmini and<br />
Chichro Patsimal in Orissa have been allotted by<br />
<strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> Coal, for development through a 50:50 Joint<br />
Venture between NTPC and Coal India Limited.<br />
(B) Development <strong>of</strong> Coal Mining Blocks :<br />
Brief Status <strong>of</strong> Activities in Pakri-Barwadih Coal<br />
Block :<br />
For acquisition <strong>of</strong> land in mining area, Gazette<br />
notification under Section 7(i) <strong>of</strong> CBA Act has been<br />
published on 01.10.2007.<br />
For acquisition <strong>of</strong> land for Township, R&R Colony, and<br />
for setting up <strong>of</strong> infrastructures like CHP, Railway<br />
Siding, etc., notifications under Section 7 & 17 <strong>of</strong> LA<br />
Act have been published during July-August 2007.
