RECENT INITIATIVES<br />

Guideline for Social Integration Programme has been<br />

issued to facilitate greater participation <strong>of</strong> people, SHGs,<br />

NGOs, Community based bodies etc. in the programmes<br />

improving monitoring and quality <strong>of</strong> works, forward and<br />

backward linkages, convergence, role <strong>of</strong> implementing<br />

agencies etc. For effective identification and implementation<br />

<strong>of</strong> various programmes under SIP, the centralised control<br />

has been withdrawn and the responsibilities have now been<br />

given to the respective Project Heads.<br />

In addition to the existing Medical Mobile Unit<br />

(MMU) facilities providing free medical treatment<br />

to the villagers, DVC has started MMU services to the<br />

villages around 10 Kms. <strong>of</strong> its upcoming projects at<br />

Balpahari, Koderma, Raghunathpur and Andal.<br />

These services have become very popular to the<br />

villagers. Requests are pouring in from the villagers for<br />

increasing the frequency <strong>of</strong> mobile unit visits, and the same<br />

is being considered.<br />

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL<br />

The Public Grievance Cell headed by a Sr. Joint Secretary,<br />

DVC, Secretariat is functioning at the HQ <strong>of</strong> the Corporation<br />

to attend and redress the grievances <strong>of</strong> the public.<br />

Grievance Cells for attending grievances <strong>of</strong> the employees<br />

are also functioning at various field formations consisting<br />

<strong>of</strong> representatives <strong>of</strong> the management.<br />

WELFARE OF DVC EMPLOYEES<br />

In every project <strong>of</strong> DVC there is a Labour & Welfare Officer<br />

and also a Welfare Centre wherefrom Books, Journals,<br />

Daily Newspapers, Sports Materials etc. are provided.<br />

Complaint Committees constituted to combat the evils <strong>of</strong><br />

sexual harassment <strong>of</strong> women at workplace are functioning<br />

in the projects <strong>of</strong> DVC. The respective Labour & Welfare<br />

Officer posted at the project looks after the general well<br />

being <strong>of</strong> the employees.<br />

WELFARE OF MINORITIES<br />

The programmes and facilities applicable to SC/ST and<br />

OBC are as well equally extended to the minority<br />

communities residing in the adjacent villages. The facilities<br />

for pursuing their cultural and literary interests are also<br />

provided to them. More so, the Projects around which<br />

Minority Community people are in large number, Urdu<br />

MAJLIS have been set up, aided and maintained by DVC,<br />

which cater to the cultural need <strong>of</strong> Minority Community.<br />

RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT<br />

In accordance with the Right to Information Act, 2005, DVC<br />

have taken necessary steps to provide information to the<br />

citizens <strong>of</strong> the country. There are nine Public Information<br />

Officers (PIO) in DVC. In all the major projects, there is a<br />

PIO to take care <strong>of</strong> the applications received in the<br />

respective project for furnishing information under the Act.<br />

The PIO posted at Headquarters extends all the necessary<br />

support in this regard. All applications received are dealt<br />

with due importance by the respective PIOs. Moreover,<br />

continuous monitoring is done from the Headquarters on<br />

the functioning <strong>of</strong> the PIOs posted at different projects <strong>of</strong><br />

DVC. In case the applicant does not receive a decision<br />

within the time specified in the Act, or is not satisfied by the<br />

response <strong>of</strong> the PIO, he/she may prefer an appeal to the<br />

Appellate Authority <strong>of</strong> DVC for redress <strong>of</strong> grievance. For<br />
