In spite <strong>of</strong> the marginal increase in attrition rate, NTPC<br />

continued to enjoy an attrition rate <strong>of</strong> less than 2% during<br />

the year. A number <strong>of</strong> initiatives were taken to ensure a robust<br />

talent pipeline to meet increasing requirement <strong>of</strong> manpower<br />

for company’s growth plans.<br />

During the year, NTPC was again ranked among the top<br />

ten Great Places to Work in India. NTPC also received the<br />

Gold Award for Excellence in People Management for<br />

being one <strong>of</strong> the very few companies that has been<br />

consistently rated among the top ten in the Great Places to<br />

Work For survey which was conducted by M/S Grow Talent<br />

Company and Business World.<br />

Training and Development<br />

NTPC is a learning organization with a strong heritage <strong>of</strong><br />

institutionalized learning, which extends to fit the mission, values<br />

and culture <strong>of</strong> the organization. The <strong>Power</strong> Management<br />

Institute (PMI), NTPC’s apex training and development center<br />

continued to play a pivotal role in individual and organizational<br />

learning. PMI <strong>of</strong>fered more than 300 training programs to cover<br />

the entire gamut <strong>of</strong> need-based interventions in all disciplines<br />

ranging from managerial to technical and information<br />

technology. The programmes were open to outside participation<br />

from SEBs, IPPs, CPSUs as well.<br />

A number <strong>of</strong> important initiatives were taken for<br />

strengthening Leadership Development schemes at different<br />

senior levels. These included “action-learning” programmes<br />

as well as structured inputs/ exposure.<br />

With a strong relationship with renowned institutes <strong>of</strong> India<br />

like IIT- Delhi, BITS – Pilani, MDI- Gurgaon, ASCI –<br />

Hyderabad to provide B Tech, M Tech, MBA courses and<br />

continuing education to its employees, PMI enhanced it’s<br />

network by signing an MOU with University <strong>of</strong> Technology,<br />

Sydney, Australia for collaboration in training, education and<br />

research.<br />

12.0 REHABILITATION & RESETTLEMENT<br />

NTPC is committed to help the populace displaced for<br />

execution <strong>of</strong> its projects and has been making efforts to<br />

improve the Socio-economic status <strong>of</strong> Project Affected<br />

Persons (PAPs). In line with its social objective, the company<br />

has focused on effective Resettlement and Rehabilitation<br />

(R&R) <strong>of</strong> PAPs and also community development works in<br />

and around the projects.<br />

During the year implementation <strong>of</strong> approved Rehabilitation<br />

Action Plans (RAPs) for Koldam, Sipat and Barh projects is<br />

in progress.<br />

Rehabilitation Action Plan for North Karanpura project and<br />

Community Development Plan for Loharinag Pala project<br />

finalized and their implementation started. A negotiated<br />

settlement with respect to R&R entitlements have also been<br />

arrived at for Hydro projects in Uttrakhand viz. Loharinag<br />

Pala and Tapovan Vishnugad projects and its<br />

implementation is in progress. Formulation <strong>of</strong> Community<br />

Development Plan for Tapovan-Vishnugad project is under<br />

progress.<br />
