Pre-qualification test for Cables as per IEC 62067 on<br />
220kV XLPE cables was discussed at M/s. Universal<br />
Cables Ltd., Satna during 15th & 17th September 2007<br />
in the presence <strong>of</strong> experts from The Furukawa Electrica<br />
Company Ltd., Japan.<br />
Carried out pre-commissioning tests on 110kV XLPE<br />
2 cable circuit for TNEB, Chennai on 30th August 2007<br />
& on 9th September 2007.<br />

Capital Projects<br />
1. ESTABLISHMENT OF TEST FACILITY FOR EAST<br />
NORTH EASTERN REGION<br />
The Institute’s Unit, Regional Testing Laboratory, Guwahati<br />
which was established under the Capital Project<br />
“Establishment <strong>of</strong> Test Facility for East/North Eastern<br />
Region” was inaugurated by Shri Pradyut Bordoloi, Hon’ble<br />
Minister <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> and Industry, Govt. <strong>of</strong> Assam, on 20th<br />
July 2007.<br />
2. CAPACITOR CURRENT SWITCHING FACILITY<br />
Capacitor Current Switching Facility was completed in<br />
May 2007 at a cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.435.00 lakhs at Switchgear<br />
Testing & Development Station (STDS), Bhopal to study<br />
the behaviour <strong>of</strong> MV Switchgear with interrupting capacitive<br />
currents upto 400A and assist product development for<br />
Industries in the country.<br />
3. ESTABLISHING COMPREHENSIVE ENERGY<br />
EFFICIENCY TESTING FACILITY FOR<br />
REFRIGERATORS AND AIR CONDITIONING AT<br />
BANGALORE<br />
The project was sanctioned at a cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.495 lakhs to<br />
help the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Energy Efficiency in their<br />
energy labeling program.<br />

4. AUGMENTATION AND MODERNISATION OF CPRI<br />
LABORATORIES<br />
CPRI laboratories are being augmented under the capital<br />
project “Augmentation and Modernisation <strong>of</strong> CPRI<br />
Laboratories” at a cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.2329.50 lakhs<br />
Marketing & Publicity<br />
The Institute participated in Institute <strong>of</strong> Electrical &<br />
Electronics Engineers (IEEE) National Symposium in<br />
August 2007 and displayed the services and facilities<br />
available at the Institute to the public & the participants.<br />
The Institute participated in India International Trade Fair<br />
(IITF) held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 14th to 27th<br />
November 2007 and displayed the services and facilities<br />
available at the Institute to the public & the participants.<br />
Accreditation ISO certification to Research &<br />
Consultancy activities.<br />
CPRI was one <strong>of</strong> the first major electrical laboratories to<br />
achieve the distinction <strong>of</strong> accreditation as per International<br />
Electro technical Commission (IEC)/ International<br />
Standards Organisation(ISO) 17025 more than a decade<br />
back. All the laboratories <strong>of</strong> CPRI at Bangalore, Bhopal,<br />
and Hyderabad are accredited as per this quality standard.<br />
Surveillance Audit <strong>of</strong> ISO 9001 obtained during previous<br />
year for Research & Consultancy services was conducted<br />
during last year. The implementation is aimed to improve<br />
CPRI’s work performance.<br />
CPRI has been accredited as an Indian Certifying Body<br />
(CB) testing laboratory under the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Indian<br />
Standards (BIS) as National Certification Body and to carry<br />
out testing within the IECEE CB scheme.
