Procedure for SIMV Mode Set Up
Set any desired Extended Features options and:
1) Push the mode Select button twice to toggle the modes between Assist/ Ctrl and SIMV/CPAP.
Select the SIMV/CPAP mode.
2) Establish the Breath Rate.
3) Establish the Tidal Volume. The calculated peak flow Vcalc is displayed in the window while
Tidal Volume is being changed.
4) Establish the Inspiratory Time. The calculated peak flow Vcalc is displayed in the window while
Inspiratory Time is being changed. Vcalc only applies to volume ventilation.
5) Set the Pressure Support, if desired.
6) Set the Sensitivity to a setting from 1 to 9.
7) Set the High Pres. Limit alarm.
8) Set the Low Pressure alarm.
9) Set the Low Min. Vol. alarm 46 .
10) Set the PEEP.
46 Only available when Flow Sensing Patient Circuit mode is enabled (see Patient Circuit Mode in this Chapter
for additional information).
