Low Pressure O 2 Source (cont.)<br />

To determine the required O 2 input flow:<br />

1) Find the desired FIO 2 (bottom of chart).<br />

2) Calculate the patient’s minute ventilation rate by using the following formula: Tidal volume x<br />

breath rate.<br />

3) Follow the FIO 2 up to the applicable slanted VE (minute volume) line (right side of chart).<br />

4) Read across horizontally to the left side of chart to the required Input O 2 Flow (lpm).<br />

To determine the delivered O 2 concentration:<br />

1) Find the Input O 2 Flow (left side of chart).<br />

2) Follow the Input O 2 Flow across horizontally to the right to the applicable slanted VE (minute<br />

volume) line.<br />

3) Read down to the FIO 2 (bottom of chart).<br />
