Low Pressure O 2 Source (cont.)
To determine the required O 2 input flow:
1) Find the desired FIO 2 (bottom of chart).
2) Calculate the patient’s minute ventilation rate by using the following formula: Tidal volume x
breath rate.
3) Follow the FIO 2 up to the applicable slanted VE (minute volume) line (right side of chart).
4) Read across horizontally to the left side of chart to the required Input O 2 Flow (lpm).
To determine the delivered O 2 concentration:
1) Find the Input O 2 Flow (left side of chart).
2) Follow the Input O 2 Flow across horizontally to the right to the applicable slanted VE (minute
volume) line.
3) Read down to the FIO 2 (bottom of chart).
