After installation <strong>of</strong> piping, but prior to installation <strong>of</strong> outletvalves, blow lines clear with nitrogen.2. Soldered Joints: For copper tube and fitting joints, solder joints inaccordance with the AWS “Soldering Manual” and “The CopperHandbook”. Thoroughly clean tube surface and inside surface <strong>of</strong> the cup<strong>of</strong> the fittings, using very fine emery cloth, prior to making soldered joints.Wipe tube and fittings clean and apply flux. Flux shall not be used as thesole means for cleaning tube and fitting surfaces.3. Copper and Brass Threaded Joint Pipe 2" and Smaller: Thread pipe withtapered pipe threads in accordance with ANSI B2.1. Cut threads full andclean using sharp dies. Ream threaded ends to remove burrs and restorefull inside diameter. Apply pipe joint sealant or Teflon tape suitable forthe service for which the pipe is intended on the male threads at each jointand tighten joint to leave not more than three threads exposed.4. Flanged Joints: Align flange surfaces parallel. Assemble joints bysequencing bolt tightening to make initial contact <strong>of</strong> flanges and gaskets asflat and parallel as possible. Use suitable lubricants on bolt threads.Tighten bolts gradually and uniformly with a torque wrench.C. Joints for other piping materials are specified within the respective piping systemsections.3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROLA. Testing: Refer to individual piping system specification sections.
