Headliner artists may include NEA Jazz Masters George Benson and Herbie Hancock as well as Joey Alexander,<br />

Cecile McLorin Salvant, Kamasi Washington,or Snarky Puppy. Ancillary educational activities <strong>for</strong> local jazz<br />

students will include clinics, master classes, and workshops taught by featured visiting artists. Exemplary student<br />

ensembles may be invited to per<strong>for</strong>m at <strong>the</strong> festival.<br />

Da Camera Society of Texas (aka DA CAMERA)<br />

$25,000 Houston, TX<br />

To support per<strong>for</strong>mances of chamber music and jazz as part of <strong>the</strong> 30th anniversary season. Plans include a<br />

dramatic staging of Schubert's "Die Winterreise" <strong>for</strong> voice and piano and programs focusing on Houston's jazz<br />

history with pianist Jason Moran featuring a free concert in partnership with Project Row Houses. Additional<br />

project plans include a music <strong>the</strong>ater program using texts from Marcel Proust's "In Search of Lost Time" with<br />

music by Debussy, Faure, and Ravel, and programs that make connections between contemporary chamber<br />

music and visual art exhibited in <strong>the</strong> Menil Collection. Educational activities may include schools programs, free<br />

panel discussions, and pre-concert talks with artists.<br />

Dallas Symphony Association, Inc. (aka Dallas Symphony Orchestra)<br />

$20,000 Dallas, TX<br />

To support ReMix, a new-<strong>for</strong>mat concert series. Designed to engage new audiences and break barriers to<br />

cultural experiences, concerts of shorter duration without intermission will take place in <strong>the</strong> Dallas City<br />

Per<strong>for</strong>mance Hall. The series, offered at reduced ticket prices, will feature experimental programing with players<br />

and conductors interacting with <strong>the</strong> audience. Repertoire may include Alfred Schnittke's Concerto Grosso No. 2<br />

<strong>for</strong> violin, cello, and orchestra, which also features electric guitar, drum kit, and brake drum.<br />

DC Jazz Festival (aka <strong>for</strong>merly, Festivals DC, Ltd.)<br />

$30,000 Washington, DC<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> DC Jazz Festival. The multi-day citywide festival will include a DC JazzFest at <strong>the</strong> Yards<br />

extravaganza at <strong>the</strong> Yards Park, a family-friendly outdoor venue overlooking <strong>the</strong> Anacostia River. Washington<br />

DC-based and internationally-renowned musicians will be featured in free-of-charge and ticketed per<strong>for</strong>mances.<br />

Confirmed artists will include The Robert Glasper Experiment, Kenny Garrett, Jacob Collier, Kandace Springs,<br />

Gregory Porter, Lori Williams, and <strong>the</strong> New Century Jazz Quintet.<br />

Early Music America, Inc. (aka Early Music America)<br />

$10,000 Pittsburgh, PA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Young Per<strong>for</strong>mers Festival and community engagement events. The festival will include concerts<br />

of music from <strong>the</strong> middle ages to <strong>the</strong> Baroque period held in conjunction with <strong>the</strong> Boston Early Music Festival,<br />

by ensembles of students selected through a juried process from colleges, universities, and conservatories<br />

throughout North America. Additional activities will include open sight-reading sessions, networking events, and<br />

career development workshops. Also, free community engagement events will be held in Nashville and<br />

Philadelphia <strong>for</strong> day-long workshops <strong>for</strong> professional, student, and amateur musicians.<br />

Earshot Jazz Society of Seattle (aka Earshot Jazz)<br />

$25,000 Seattle, WA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Earshot Jazz Festival. Month-long programming will feature at least 60 per<strong>for</strong>mances by nearly<br />

300 local and international musicians in more than ten venues across Seattle including places such as Benaroya<br />

Hall, PONCHO Concert Hall, <strong>the</strong> Seattle Art Museum, and Tala's Jazz Club. Planned ancillary activities include art<br />

exhibits, commissions, jazz film screenings, literary readings, multimedia installations, artist panels, residencies,<br />
