Yellow Barn, Inc. (aka Yellow Barn)<br />
$10,000 Putney, VT<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> Yellow Barn Program and Artist Residencies, a professional development project. During <strong>the</strong><br />
annual summer chamber music festival, musicians will participate in rehearsals, coaching sessions, master<br />
classes, and per<strong>for</strong>mances with faculty and guest artists selected by Artistic Director Seth Knopp (a founding<br />
member of <strong>the</strong> Naumburg Award-winning Peabody Trio), such as violinist Daniel Chong, violist Ka<strong>the</strong>rine<br />
Murdock, pianist Gilbert Kalish, and cellist Natasha Brofsky, and composers Stephen Coxe, Jorg Widmann, and<br />
Stefano Gervasoni. Yellow Barn Artist Residencies, a retreat program <strong>for</strong> professional, per<strong>for</strong>ming musicians,<br />
fur<strong>the</strong>rs <strong>the</strong> art of musical per<strong>for</strong>mance by providing an environment conducive to undistracted study, an<br />
exchange of ideas, and opportunities <strong>for</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance.<br />

To support a music festival celebrating <strong>the</strong> centennial of American composer Lou Harrison's birth. The week-long<br />
festival will feature a diverse range of compositions by <strong>the</strong> composer, an interactive exhibition of photographs,<br />
writings, articles, and scores from Harrison's creative life, and community engagement events and discussions.<br />
The activities will take place in venues such as Studio Z in St. Paul, Weber Hall at University of Minnesota-Duluth,<br />
as well as Kleinpell Fine <strong>Arts</strong> Center in River <strong>Fall</strong>s, Wisconsin.<br />
