Oklahoma Visual <strong>Arts</strong> Coalition, Inc. (aka Oklahoma Visual <strong>Arts</strong> Coalition (OVAC))<br />

$25,000 Oklahoma City, OK<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> exhibition "Art 365." Emerging Oklahoma visual artists will be invited to create new work <strong>for</strong> one<br />

year, in consultation with guest curator, Dana Turkovic, Curator of Exhibitions at Laumeier Sculpture Park in St.<br />

Louis, Missouri. The new work will be documented through a catalogue and website. Artists will receive a<br />

commissioning fee, quarterly visits from <strong>the</strong> curator, video, web and print documentation, and exhibition<br />

opportunities at several local venues.<br />

Open Source Gallery, Inc. (aka Open Source Gallery)<br />

$20,000 Brooklyn, NY<br />

To support a series of exhibitions by artists and artist collectives with an emphasis on international exchange.<br />

Artists expected to participate will use historic imagery to explore contemporary issues in <strong>the</strong>ir work and include<br />

Sana Obaid (Pakistan), Liinu Gronlund (Finland), Kimberly Mayhorn (United States), as well as a <strong>the</strong>me-based<br />

exhibition curated by Omar Lopez-Chahoud (United States). Each exhibition will include an artist presentation<br />

and a moderated lecture series.<br />

Otis College of Art and Design (aka Otis Art Institute)<br />

$20,000 Los Angeles, CA<br />

To support a solo exhibition and catalogue featuring <strong>the</strong> work of Suzan Pitt (b.1943). The Los Angeles-based<br />

experimental film animator and painter will be <strong>the</strong> subject of a retrospective exhibition at <strong>the</strong> College's Ben<br />

Maltz Gallery. The exhibition will highlight <strong>the</strong> artist's intensive process of producing hand-painted films, and will<br />

include paintings, animated videos, short films, animation cells, and painted textiles made <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> last 50 years.<br />

Plans <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> catalogue include essays by film archivists, curators, scholars and o<strong>the</strong>r artists.<br />

Otterbein University<br />

$20,000 Westerville, OH<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> exhibition and artists residency, "Between Us: Identity and Relationship in Tibetan Contemporary<br />

Art." The series will explore contemporary Tibetan art featuring <strong>the</strong> work of bro<strong>the</strong>rs Tsherin Sherpa and Tulku<br />

Jamyang. Although <strong>the</strong>ir work is rooted in <strong>the</strong> traditional thangka painting style that features meditational<br />

figures or Buddhist teachings, <strong>the</strong> artists' current work explores issues related to identity, cultural shifts, and<br />

modernity. A panel discussion and exhibition catalogue will cover Tibetan contemporary art, its relationship to<br />

traditional Tibetan art, and its role in defining an emerging Tibetan culture in <strong>the</strong> diaspora.<br />

Penland School of Crafts, Inc. (aka Penland School of Crafts)<br />

$30,000 Penland, NC<br />

To support an artist-in-residence program. Artists working in a variety of mediums including papermaking,<br />

ceramics, drawing, painting, glass, iron, metal, photography, printmaking, textiles, and woodworking will be<br />

invited <strong>for</strong> one- to six-week residencies. Selected by a jury comprising current and alumni Penland artists, as<br />

many as 150 participants will receive studio space, housing, and a stipend, as well as equipment access,<br />

technical assistance and community engagement opportunities.<br />

Philadelphia Mural <strong>Arts</strong> Advocates (aka Philadelphia Mural <strong>Arts</strong> Program)<br />

$60,000 Philadelphia, PA<br />
