To support <strong>the</strong> Indigenous Film & <strong>Arts</strong> Festival. The festival will present documentaries, shorts, and feature films<br />
by and about Indigenous peoples, as well as an art exhibit featuring work by visual and per<strong>for</strong>ming artist Gregg<br />
Deal. Film screenings, panel discussions, youth programs, and question-and-answer sessions featuring<br />
filmmakers and o<strong>the</strong>r guest artists will take place at a variety of locations throughout Denver.<br />
Issue Project Room, Inc. (aka ISSUE Project Room)<br />
$15,000 Brooklyn, NY<br />
To support residencies <strong>for</strong> emerging artists. The program will provide artists working across <strong>the</strong> disciplines of<br />
music, sound art, per<strong>for</strong>mance art, and dance with yearlong residencies which will include a stipend and<br />
rehearsal space, as well as marketing, curatorial, and technical support. During <strong>the</strong> course of <strong>the</strong> residency<br />
period, recipient artists will premiere new works in free public per<strong>for</strong>mance events in New York City.<br />
John Michael Kohler <strong>Arts</strong> Center Inc (aka JMKAC)<br />
$40,000 Sheboygan, WI<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> Connecting Communities residency program. The series of multidisciplinary community-based<br />
artistic collaborations will actively engage <strong>the</strong> public in creating new works. Architect Michael Moore will<br />
collaborate with architecture firm Tres Birds and community members to conceptualize and build interactive<br />
sculptures that integrate with <strong>the</strong> natural setting. Visual artists Andrea Dezso, Swoon, and Atom Pechman will<br />
join with members of <strong>the</strong> area's immigrant communities, at-risk youth, and residents of local homeless and<br />
domestic abuse shelters, along with <strong>the</strong> public to develop and create public art installations. Finally, Phantom<br />
Limb Company will collaborate with members of <strong>the</strong> public to create per<strong>for</strong>mances utilizing marionette<br />
puppetry and multimedia <strong>the</strong>atrics to interpret climate change and freshwater research.<br />
Junebug Productions, Inc. (aka Junebug Productions)<br />
$20,000 New Orleans, LA<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> presentation of "Power of <strong>the</strong> Black Feminine: (re)moved and (re)claimed." The evening-length<br />
per<strong>for</strong>mance will feature works by multidisciplinary artists Marguerite Hemmings, Kesha McKey, and Rebecca<br />
Mwase. Junebug also will work with poet Sunni Patterson and director Jason Foster to create a video that will be<br />
screened during <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance featuring poetry, dance, and percussion. Engagement activities will include<br />
story-based community workshops and pre- and post-per<strong>for</strong>mance discussions, as well as healing circles and<br />
wellness ga<strong>the</strong>rings.<br />
Kauffman Center <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong><br />
$10,000 Kansas City, MO<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> Future Stages Festival. The festival will include per<strong>for</strong>mances by youth-oriented arts<br />
organizations, as well as per<strong>for</strong>mances by resident companies including <strong>the</strong> Kansas City Ballet, <strong>the</strong> Lyric Opera,<br />
and <strong>the</strong> Kansas City Symphony. Interactive arts activities will be offered throughout <strong>the</strong> venue.<br />
Kuumba Lynx<br />
$20,000 Chicago, IL<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> Chicago Hip Hop Theater Festival. The festival will feature artists in genres such as music, poetry,<br />
visual arts, and multidisciplinary arts. In addition to per<strong>for</strong>mances and exhibitions, artists also will lead dialogue<br />
sessions and hands-on workshops. Kuumba Lynx will partner with Northwestern University to host a colloquium<br />
about hip-hop pedagogy and practice.<br />
Lotus Education and <strong>Arts</strong> Foundation, Inc.<br />
$20,000 Bloomington, IN<br />
