and <strong>the</strong> man-made, drawing inspiration from <strong>the</strong> High Line itself-a hybrid space with industrial origins and a<br />

vibrant ecosystem. Community outreach programming will be developed, including field trips <strong>for</strong> public school<br />

students, in-school and after-school partnerships, and in<strong>for</strong>mal drop-in activities <strong>for</strong> families.<br />

Glass Art Society, Inc. (aka GAS)<br />

$20,000 Seattle, WA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Glass Art Society's annual journal and conference <strong>for</strong> glass artists in Norfolk, Virginia. The <strong>the</strong>me,<br />

"Reflections from <strong>the</strong> Edge: Glass, Art, and Per<strong>for</strong>mance," will involve, educate, and introduce glass to <strong>the</strong><br />

community at large through presentations, glass-blowing per<strong>for</strong>mances, lectures, panels, and discussion groups.<br />

The conference will feature programming at <strong>the</strong> Chrysler Museum of Art, and will include a "Hot Glass<br />

Roadshow," sponsored by <strong>the</strong> Corning Museum of Glass, in New York. The journal will provide a documented<br />

record of <strong>the</strong> conference programming including lectures, presentations, and proceedings.<br />

Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (aka Haystack)<br />

$15,000 Deer Isle, ME<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Haystack Art Schools Collaborative conference. Dedicated and structured around students and<br />

jointly planned with o<strong>the</strong>r participating schools, <strong>the</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>ring will convene to investigate <strong>the</strong> constantly<br />

emerging field of craft. Leading practitioners in <strong>the</strong>ir respective fields will present lectures and lead studio-based<br />

workshops. Students will help identify topics <strong>for</strong> discussion groups, show images of <strong>the</strong>ir work to session<br />

participants, and work on collaborative and experimental projects. Participants will submit written evaluations<br />

at <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> conference.<br />

Hyde Park Art Center<br />

$25,000 Chicago, IL<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Artist Advancement Series. The series will include an exhibition program focusing on <strong>the</strong><br />

presentation of new work by Chicago artists, as well as a residency program in which artists will receive a<br />

stipend, housing, materials, and technical assistance <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> creation of new work. The series also will offer a<br />

professional development program <strong>for</strong> early-career artists. The professional development program will provide<br />

<strong>the</strong> artists with access to materials and space to develop a rigorous studio practice, guidance from professionals<br />

in <strong>the</strong> field, and a plat<strong>for</strong>m to exhibit <strong>the</strong>ir work.<br />

International Sculpture Center, Inc. (aka Sculpture Magazine)<br />

$20,000 Hamilton, NJ<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Dialogues and Discoveries initiative. Designed to facilitate conversations about contemporary<br />

sculpture, <strong>the</strong> initiative includes <strong>the</strong> production of "Sculpture" magazine in print and versions designed <strong>for</strong> web<br />

browsers and tablet apps, as well as expansion of additional online digital content and a weekly blog. Articles<br />

and interviews will document and analyze new work by emerging and established sculptors while online<br />

features present sound, new media, kinetic, and per<strong>for</strong>mance works, including video interviews and studio<br />

tours. The blog supports high quality critical writing that explores methods and materials, exhibitions, <strong>the</strong><br />

business of art, and book reviews.<br />

International Studio & Curatorial Program (aka ISCP)<br />

$20,000 Brooklyn, NY<br />

To support an artist residency program and related exhibitions and publications. The project will address <strong>the</strong><br />

relationship between documentary practices and ethics in contemporary art with a particular emphasis on <strong>the</strong><br />

manipulation of journalistic photographs and video. Building upon <strong>the</strong> success of a <strong>the</strong>matic residency held in<br />
