To support <strong>the</strong> traveling exhibition, "Gordon Matta-Clark: Anarchitect," and accompanying catalogue. The<br />

exhibition will examine how Matta-Clark (1943-78) "re-purposed" his architectural training and turned to<br />

creating site-specific art works and actions that deconstructed <strong>the</strong> urban landscape. A number of <strong>the</strong>se key<br />

projects were realized in <strong>the</strong> South Bronx, in an era marked by <strong>the</strong> borough's steep economic decline. In<br />

addition to <strong>the</strong> works by Matta-Clark, <strong>the</strong> exhibition will feature rare archival materials, and works by artists<br />

such as David Hammons and Alvin Baltrop, that broaden <strong>the</strong> understanding of <strong>the</strong> sociocultural issues and milieu<br />

to which that artist responded. Educational programs and resources will be developed such as guided tours,<br />

workshops, curricula, and multimedia projects.<br />

Children's Museum of Manhattan (aka CMOM)<br />

$15,000 New York, NY<br />

To support Collage Collaborations, a series of arts workshops <strong>for</strong> children and <strong>the</strong>ir adult caregivers. In<br />

partnership with three New York City artists of color-Alexandria Smith; Naomi Reis; and Tai Hwa Goh-CMOM will<br />

investigate <strong>the</strong> artistic process of collage within <strong>the</strong> context of early childhood development. The artists will<br />

work with children five and under, introducing <strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong> possibilities of art-making using a wide variety of<br />

materials such as wood, fur, and grass. The children also will be introduced to basic concepts related to color,<br />

shape, texture, and <strong>for</strong>m. The project will culminate in <strong>the</strong> creation of a collaborative work which will be<br />

exhibited alongside works by each artist.<br />

Cleveland Museum of Art<br />

$40,000 Cleveland, OH<br />

To support a research project to assess <strong>the</strong> sustained engagement value of technology on art museum visitors.<br />

Partnering with a prominent research firm, <strong>the</strong> museum will focus on assessing <strong>the</strong> impact of Gallery One, a<br />

digital wall that is highly interactive and features <strong>the</strong> largest multi-touch MicroTile screen in <strong>the</strong> United States,<br />

capable of displaying more than 4,000 objects from its collection. Gallery One enables visitors to customize <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

experience, create <strong>the</strong>ir own tours, and put toge<strong>the</strong>r personal and priceless collections, enhancing <strong>the</strong>ir visit<br />

using <strong>the</strong>ir own mobile devices. The research is designed to answer questions and assess assumptions related to<br />

how <strong>the</strong> new technology expands <strong>the</strong> relationship visitors have with <strong>the</strong> collection, what metrics best measure<br />

this value, and its effect on <strong>the</strong> attendance figures of new visitors and millennials.<br />

Contemporary <strong>Arts</strong> Center (aka CAC)<br />

$25,000 Cincinnati, OH<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> "Vocabulary of Solitude" series by Ugo Rondinone. Swiss-born artist, Rondinone (b. 1964) will rework<br />

a series he has done in o<strong>the</strong>r venues around <strong>the</strong> world, creating an immersive experience that combines a<br />

variety of materials and objects, <strong>the</strong> gallery architecture, and visitors as collaborators. The installation will<br />

include a neon rainbow, colored gels on <strong>the</strong> windows, floating mandalas, paintings, painted windows, and lifesize,<br />

garishly-clad clown sculptures. Public programming will be developed in partnership with a variety of<br />

community organizations. It is anticipated that <strong>the</strong> artist will recreate <strong>the</strong> installation in several o<strong>the</strong>r venues.<br />

Contemporary <strong>Arts</strong> Museum Houston<br />

$40,000 Houston, TX<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> exhibition, "Annabeth Rosen: Fired, Broken, Ga<strong>the</strong>red, Heaped," and accompanying catalogue.<br />

The museum will present <strong>the</strong> first comprehensive survey that explores <strong>the</strong> evolution of contemporary ceramicist<br />

Annabeth Rosen's (b. 1957) artistic practice. The exhibition will comprise small- and large-scale ceramics,<br />

installations, and works on paper that trace <strong>the</strong> arc of Rosen's career. In<strong>for</strong>med by traditional painting practices,<br />

feminist ideology, and <strong>for</strong>mal training as a ceramicist, Rosen's work challenges traditional beauty concepts. The<br />

exhibition will be accompanied by a full-color catalogue, including an artist biography and scholarly essays, and<br />
