Roulette Intermedium, Inc. (aka Roulette)
$25,000 Brooklyn, NY
To support the GENERATE new works development program. GENERATE will assist artists in the creation and
presentation of new works through commissioning fees, rehearsal space, production support, technical
assistance, publicity, and documentation of their work. The program will support composers, choreographers,
and multidisciplinary artists.
Seattle Theatre Group (aka STG Presents)
$20,000 Seattle, WA
To support a series of multidisciplinary presentations. The series at STG Presents will feature performances by
the Batsheva Dance Company (Israel), Dance Theatre of Harlem, and contemporary music ensemble eighth
blackbird with singer Will Oldham. Engagement activities will include master classes, open rehearsals, lecturedemonstrations,
post-show discussions, and community workshops.
Shunpike (aka SHUNPIKE)
$20,000 Seattle, WA
To support the Washington Independent Artists of Color Expo and Symposium. The convening for independent
artists and arts groups from around Washington State will provide an opportunity for discussion, networking,
and learning. The Expo will include workshops, master-classes, a keynote address, panel discussions, exhibitions,
and performances.
Spoleto Festival USA
$25,000 Charleston, SC
To support artist fees for selected works during the Spoleto Festival. The festival will feature performances from
national and international artists in dance, theater, music, and opera. Presentations will include Compagnie XY's
(France) physical theater work "Il n'est pas encore minuit;" the American premiere of Luca Francesconi's opera
"Quartett"; a new production of Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," directed by Chen Shi-Zheng (China); a
production of Vivaldi's "Farnace"; and a performance by choreographer Hillel Kogan.
Stern Grove Festival Association (aka Stern Grove Festival)
$40,000 San Francisco, CA
To support the Stern Grove Festival. The festival will feature free outdoor performances by artists including the
San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Ballet, as well as world music, pop, and jazz artists. Local artists
from various disciplines will be commissioned to create and perform site-specific works. Engagement activities
will include hands-on workshops and camps for youth, as well as pre-show arts activities and discussions.
Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects (aka Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects)
$20,000 New York, NY
To support the final development and presentation of "Grand Rounds," a dance-theater work. Choreographer
Tamar Rogoff will partner with Dance for Parkinson's Disease (Dance for PD) participants, as well as professional
dancers, actors, and athletes, to explore themes of aging, healing, and death. The multigenerational cast will
present their work at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club.
