Spike Lee, Guy Maddin, Albert Maysles, Kelly Reichardt, Margare<strong>the</strong> von Trotta, Andrzej Wajda, and Frederick<br />

Wiseman. The premiered films frequently go on to play nationwide in <strong>the</strong>aters, schools, film societies, festivals,<br />

and beyond. Screenings often include question-and-answer sessions with <strong>the</strong> filmmakers, which are recorded<br />

and made available as a podcast on iTunes and <strong>the</strong> Film Forum website.<br />

Film Society of Lincoln Center, Inc. (aka Film Society)<br />

To support Perspectives in World Cinema. Throughout <strong>the</strong> year, <strong>the</strong> program's curated series and film festivals<br />

feature classic and contemporary works of American and international cinema. Programs to be presented<br />

include series on documentary film; Asian, Jewish, and French cinema; and films by new and emerging artists. In<br />

previous years, <strong>the</strong> program has included works by international filmmakers such as Agnes Varda, Pawel<br />

Pawlikowki, Harun Farocki, Alejandro G. Inarritu, Hou Hsiao-hsien, and Chantal Akerman. During events such as<br />

<strong>the</strong> New York Film Festival, high school students will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to view festival works in private<br />

screenings accompanied by visiting directors. Films recently screened in <strong>the</strong> program include "The Lobster" by<br />

Yorgos Lanthimos, "In Jackson Heights" by Frederick Wiseman, and "The Tribe" by Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy.<br />

Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul<br />

$30,000 Minneapolis, MN<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Cine Global program at <strong>the</strong> Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival. Dedicated to<br />

promoting intercultural understanding, <strong>the</strong> festival's Cine Global program will present contemporary films from<br />

around <strong>the</strong> world, with a focus on audiences of local immigrant communities. International artists will engage in<br />

presentations, panel discussions, and workshops that accompany festival screenings, as well as in educational<br />

programs such as nextwave, which fosters media literacy and filmmaking skills <strong>for</strong> area youth. Previously<br />

screened works at <strong>the</strong> festival include "Every Face Has a Name" by Magnus Gertten, "The Look of Silence" by<br />

Joshua Oppenheimer, and "Difret" by Zeresenay Berhane Mehari.<br />

Film Streams, Inc. (aka Film Streams)<br />

$25,000 Omaha, NE<br />

To support a series of curated films. The series will include <strong>the</strong> presentation of repertory programs, special<br />

programs, and film events in collaboration with arts and social service organizations such as <strong>the</strong> Omaha Irish<br />

Cultural Center, Boris Center <strong>for</strong> Contemporary <strong>Arts</strong>, and <strong>the</strong> Meyer Foundation <strong>for</strong> Disabilities. Recent<br />

programs include an Ingrid Bergman retrospective and a continuation of <strong>the</strong> "Great Director" series featuring<br />

<strong>the</strong> works of Chantal Akerman.<br />

Film<strong>for</strong>um, Inc (aka Los Angeles Film<strong>for</strong>um)<br />

$30,000 Los Angeles, CA<br />

To support "Ism, Ism, Ism: Experimental Film in Latin America," a curated exhibition and tour, and related<br />

activities. The exhibition will be presented bilingually and feature experimental media works from Latin America<br />

that are largely unknown in <strong>the</strong> United States. Works by artists such as Narcisa Hirch (Chile), Eduardo Sola<br />

Franco (Ecuador), and Claudio Caldini (Argentina) will represent a diverse selection of genres and film<br />

movements. Debuting in Sou<strong>the</strong>rn Cali<strong>for</strong>nia, <strong>the</strong> exhibition is planned to tour to as many as seven locations<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> nation. It will be supplemented by a catalogue, digital curricula, program notes, and discussions<br />

with artists and field experts.<br />
