by local composers. Additional project activities will include a series of clinics, open rehearsals, public<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mances, and an opportunity <strong>for</strong> student musicians on <strong>the</strong> geographically isolated islands to interact with<br />

world-class guest musicians.<br />

Knoxville Museum of Art (aka KMA)<br />

$10,000 Knoxville, TN<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> contemporary art exhibition "Jered Sprecher: Outside In" and related educational programs. The<br />

exhibition will showcase <strong>the</strong> visual artwork of Sprecher, including several new works configured in an in<strong>for</strong>mal<br />

manner, designed to reference a domestic living room. Educational outreach components of <strong>the</strong> project,<br />

including hands-on instruction and lectures with <strong>the</strong> artist are intended to serve an economically underserved<br />

high school in Knoxville, Tennessee.<br />

La Raza Galeria Posada (aka Latino Center of Art and Culture)<br />

$10,000 Sacramento, CA<br />

To support The Esperanza Project, an artist residency and accompanying exhibition featuring artists Sonya Fe<br />

and Nanibah Chacon. Fe and Chacon will work with low-income youth from Brown Issues, a statewide youth<br />

group, to create portable murals with a focus on <strong>the</strong> positive aspects of <strong>the</strong> Latino community and convey a<br />

message of hope and social responsibility. The murals will rotate to up to five Sacramento high schools, as well<br />

as be exhibited at a gallery space and later placed on permanent display at <strong>the</strong> La Familia Counseling Center's<br />

Maple Community Center located in South Sacramento, Cali<strong>for</strong>nia.<br />

Las Vegas Philharmonic (aka LVPhil)<br />

$10,000 Las Vegas, NV<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Las Vegas Philharmonic Ensemble Music Community Education. The initiative will bring chamber<br />

groups of Philharmonic musicians to per<strong>for</strong>m <strong>for</strong> senior communities and engage in question-and-answer<br />

sessions. Up to six per<strong>for</strong>mances are being scheduled <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> 2016-17 season. Each per<strong>for</strong>mance is intended to<br />

serve older adults and residents with disabilities.<br />

Latino <strong>Arts</strong>, Inc.<br />

$10,000 Milwaukee, WI<br />

To support a <strong>2017</strong> Dia de Los Muertos/Day of <strong>the</strong> Dead celebration exhibition and associated activities. The<br />

celebration will feature an exhibition of ofrendas, or altars, by visual artists and local school groups; musical<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mances; and workshops. The annual event draws a large Latino audience and preserves <strong>the</strong> community's<br />

cultural heritage. Free tickets to <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mances will be provided to area adult day centers <strong>for</strong> older adults and<br />

people with disabilities.<br />

Learning Lamp, Inc.<br />

$10,000 Johnstown, PA<br />

To support The 9th Annual Children's Book Festival of Johnstown. The festival will connect families of all incomes<br />

with award-winning authors and illustrators of children's literature through interactive presentations. Free to<br />

families, <strong>the</strong> festival will feature storytellers, live music and <strong>the</strong>ater per<strong>for</strong>mances, <strong>the</strong>med crafts, writing and<br />

illustration workshops, and access to free books. The Saturday Night Author Talk event will also allow aspiring<br />

writers to speak with <strong>the</strong> festival's headlining authors and an editor from <strong>the</strong> publishing industry in a questionand-answer<br />

session about children's publishing.<br />
