Aspen Santa Fe Ballet<br />

$20,000 Aspen, CO<br />

To support a national tour of dance per<strong>for</strong>mances. The company will travel to diverse cities across <strong>the</strong> United<br />

States with existing and new works. Additional new works will be commissioned by choreographers Fernando<br />

Melo and Cherice Barton. Appropriate outreach activities will be provided to each community.<br />

Atlanta Ballet, Inc. (aka Atlanta Ballet)<br />

$20,000 Atlanta, GA<br />

To support re-staging and presentation of "Firebird," by Yuri Possokhov. Per<strong>for</strong>mances and educational<br />

demonstrations will be artistically adventuresome, socially relevant, and culturally reflective. Possokhov focuses<br />

on non-traditional choreography and will give voice to more diverse dancers and audience members.<br />

Presentations will take place at The Cobb Energy Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Centre and include lecture-demonstrations <strong>for</strong><br />

high school students, and at Atlanta Ballet's College Dance Partner program at Kennesaw State University.<br />

AXIS Dance Company (aka AXIS)<br />

$20,000 Oakland, CA<br />

To support Dance Access education and outreach programs. AXIS will offer a variety of events in <strong>the</strong> Bay Area<br />

and on a national tour <strong>for</strong> youth and adults with and without disabilities who are based locally and nationally.<br />

Project activities may include dance classes, professional-level dance training, teacher training, a dance<br />

apprentice program <strong>for</strong> students with spinal cord injuries, community workshops, lecture-demonstrations, live<br />

and virtual interaction with per<strong>for</strong>mance, and building creative dance skills.<br />

Ballet Metropolitan, Inc. (aka BalletMet)<br />

$20,000 Columbus, OH<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> presentation of "Romeo and Juliet," by Edwaard Liang. BalletMet will stage this three-act<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>for</strong> its Ohio premiere which will include elaborate sets and costumes, swordfights, and dramatic<br />

choreography. Students in BalletMet's Dance Academy will be cast in a variety of character roles. Educational<br />

components will include a per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>for</strong> school children and study materials <strong>for</strong> teachers to integrate in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

classrooms. The ballet will be per<strong>for</strong>med at <strong>the</strong> Ohio Theatre in Columbus.<br />

Ballet Theatre Foundation, Inc. (aka American Ballet Theatre)<br />

$90,000 New York, NY<br />

To support American Ballet Theatre's <strong>2017</strong> domestic tour. In addition to its annual New York per<strong>for</strong>mance series<br />

at <strong>the</strong> Metropolitan Opera House and David H. Koch Theater, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) will travel to Costa<br />

Mesa, Cali<strong>for</strong>nia, and Washington, D.C. ABT will per<strong>for</strong>m full-length and repertory works. The tour will begin in<br />

Washington where <strong>the</strong> company will per<strong>for</strong>m "Swan Lake" under <strong>the</strong> direction of Artistic Director Kevin<br />

McKenzie, followed by per<strong>for</strong>mances in Costa Mesa with new works from Artist-in-Residence, Alexei Ratmansky.<br />

The tour will conclude with <strong>the</strong> presentation of "The Nutcracker" and will feature student per<strong>for</strong>mers from ABT's<br />

William J. Gillespie School at <strong>the</strong> Segerstrom Center <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong>.<br />

Ballet West (aka N/A)<br />

$20,000 Salt Lake City, UT<br />
