all ages and backgrounds will accompany <strong>the</strong> show, as well as a fully illustrated publication written by leading<br />

Chinese and Western scholars.<br />

Mexic-Arte (aka Mexic-Arte Museum)<br />

$25,000 Austin, TX<br />

To support an exhibition series <strong>for</strong> emerging artists. Exhibitions will be guest-curated, featuring current work by<br />

emerging Texas artists of Latino descent. The series provides professional mentoring to up and coming artists<br />

with a one-to-one apprenticeship with <strong>the</strong> museum curatorial staff. In addition to presentation in <strong>the</strong> gallery,<br />

artists also will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to present <strong>the</strong>ir work using a "changarrito," or mobile cart which allows <strong>for</strong><br />

unique public engagement, taking <strong>the</strong> art out of <strong>the</strong> museum and into various Austin neighborhoods.<br />

Minnesota Museum of American Art (aka MMAA)<br />

$25,000 St. Paul, MN<br />

To support an exhibition featuring <strong>the</strong> work of Ken Gonzales-Day. The exhibition will include works by Gonzales-<br />

Day (b. 1964), including his own photographs, digitally altered archival photographs, billboard images, and<br />

video. The works explore <strong>the</strong> fine line between collective violence and collective resistance in America from<br />

1850 to <strong>the</strong> present. The project will include a two-week residency, during which time Gonzales-Day will work<br />

with <strong>the</strong> community to make new work and explore contemporary issues related to racial violence and police<br />

brutality. A public screening and discussion of <strong>the</strong> artist's video "Run Up" is planned as well as a panel<br />

discussion. A scholarly catalogue will be produced, which will include essays and interviews.<br />

Museum Associates (aka Los Angeles County Museum of Art)<br />

$35,000 Los Angeles, CA<br />

To support "A Universal History of Infamy" at <strong>the</strong> Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The exhibition will include<br />

newly commissioned and existing artwork, per<strong>for</strong>mances, and events exploring <strong>the</strong> contributions of Latino and<br />

Latin American artists. The project, part of <strong>the</strong> Getty's Pacific Standard Time: Los Angeles/Latin America<br />

(L.A./L.A.), will feature works by artists who use a variety of media -architectural interventions, sculpture,<br />

photography, drawing, media installation, <strong>the</strong>ater, and per<strong>for</strong>mance. Participating artists will include Vincent<br />

Ramos, Fernanda Laguna, and o<strong>the</strong>rs, and <strong>the</strong> project will include an artist residency component at <strong>the</strong> 18th<br />

Street <strong>Arts</strong> Center. During <strong>the</strong> residency, artists will work with students from a local elementary school. Artist<br />

talks, curator-led tours, per<strong>for</strong>mance projects, experiential learning, dialogue, and in-gallery per<strong>for</strong>mances will<br />

be given throughout <strong>the</strong> run of <strong>the</strong> exhibition. An online publication and bilingual catalgoue also willbe<br />

produced.<br />

Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Inc. (aka MOCA GA)<br />

$25,000 Atlanta, GA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Working Artist Project. This residency program provides established Georgia artists with a<br />

stipend, a studio apprentice, a solo exhibition, and a full-color catalogue. Artists are selected by a committee of<br />

curators from <strong>the</strong> region. Part of <strong>the</strong> residency program includes a one-year mentoring program of an emerging<br />

artist designed to create partnerships in which both mentors and mentees can benefit from sharing knowledge,<br />

skills, ideas, experience, networks, and <strong>the</strong> potential <strong>for</strong> creative collaboration.<br />

Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego (aka MCASD)<br />

$35,000 La Jolla, CA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> traveling exhibition, "Memories of Underdevelopment," and accompanying catalogue. Organized<br />

in partnership with <strong>the</strong> Museo Jumex and <strong>the</strong> Museo de Arte de Lima, <strong>the</strong> exhibition will focus on how Latin<br />
