$25,000 Long Island City, NY<br />

To support an artist residency program. Artists in a variety of disciplines will receive commissioning fees,<br />

dedicated access to studio space and technical equipment, production support, and administrative assistance at<br />

The Chocolate Factory Theater. The program will culminate with public per<strong>for</strong>mances, resulting in fully produced<br />

and edited, multi-camera, professional video and photographic documentation of <strong>the</strong> artists' work.<br />

Theater Oobleck<br />

$20,000 Chicago, IL<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> presentation of "The Memory Palace of Fear," a new multidisciplinary work. An immersive,<br />

multidisciplinary haunted house experience will explore <strong>for</strong>eclosure and abandonment in <strong>the</strong> wake of <strong>the</strong> 2008<br />

housing crisis. Employing text, sound, per<strong>for</strong>mance, puppets, and video, "The Memory Palace of Fear" will marry<br />

an examination of popular culture's haunted house as an entertainment attraction with journalistic research<br />

into housing stability.<br />

Tigertail Productions, Inc.<br />

$30,000 Miami, FL<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> FIRE multidisciplinary series. Tigertail will present works inspired by <strong>the</strong> element of fire. Project<br />

activities will include a per<strong>for</strong>mance by Reggie Wilson's Fist & Heel dance company and a site-specific dance<br />

work by Hattie Mae Williams. Additionally, <strong>the</strong> WordSpeak youth poetry and spoken-word program will bring<br />

professional artists into public schools <strong>for</strong> a series of artist residencies, during which participants will write and<br />

per<strong>for</strong>m original poems. A selected group of teens will per<strong>for</strong>m original works during FIRE. Each of <strong>the</strong><br />

presentations will be accompanied by related public events, such as discussions, lectures, workshops, master<br />

classes and open rehearsals.<br />

Times Square District Management Association (aka Times Square Alliance)<br />

$30,000 New York, NY<br />

To support At The Crossroads, a series of multidisciplinary presentations. Artists will create and present sitespecific<br />

works at Times Square public plazas. Selected presentations may include audio-based stories collected<br />

by multidisciplinary artist Aman Mojadidi presented in repurposed phone booths, a per<strong>for</strong>mance art/dance<br />

piece created by choreographers Brennan Gerard and Ryan Kelly, an interactive event created by Steve Lambert,<br />

a kiosk created by Jakob Steensen exploring <strong>the</strong> history of New York City, and nightly video art installations.<br />

Town Hall Association (aka Town Hall Seattle)<br />

$15,000 Seattle, WA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Global Rhythms per<strong>for</strong>mance series. The series will feature international and American world<br />

music artists. Town Hall will work with <strong>the</strong> artists and community partners to design engagement activities that<br />

complement <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mances.<br />

University Musical Society (aka UMS)<br />

$15,000 Ann Arbor, MI<br />

To support artists fees <strong>for</strong> a multidisciplinary series of per<strong>for</strong>mances. Artists per<strong>for</strong>ming in <strong>the</strong> series will include<br />

multidisciplinary artist Meredith Monk, <strong>the</strong>ater group Ping Chong & Company, and <strong>the</strong>ater company Complicite<br />

(United Kingdom), as well as a collaboration between dance company Kidd Pivot (Canada) and Electric Company<br />

Theatre (Canada). Engagement activities will include lectures-demonstrations, master classes, and postper<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

discussions with <strong>the</strong> artists.<br />
