$10,000 Lincoln, NE<br />
To support a free music outreach program serving members of <strong>the</strong> immigrant and refugee community.<br />
Members of Family Literacy, an English Language Learning program serving members of <strong>the</strong> immigrant and<br />
refugee community in Lincoln, Nebraska, will receive free tickets to music per<strong>for</strong>mances, as well as<br />
transportation to <strong>the</strong> concert venues. Audiences will take part in pre-concert talks, with translators, about<br />
concert etiquette, classical music history, and <strong>the</strong> instruments used, and engage in family activities prior to <strong>the</strong><br />
per<strong>for</strong>mance, such as face painting, an instrument petting zoo, musical games, photo booths, and arts and crafts<br />
projects.<br />
Living Jazz<br />
$10,000 Oakland, CA<br />
To support: In <strong>the</strong> Name of Love, <strong>the</strong> 15th Musical Tribute Honoring Dr. Martin Lu<strong>the</strong>r King, Jr. The tribute will<br />
feature San Francisco Bay Area vocalists Kenny Washington; Will Russ, Jr.; Terrie Odabi; Destani Wolf; and Luq<br />
Frank as well as <strong>the</strong> 70-voice Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and <strong>the</strong> 300-voice choir from <strong>the</strong> Living Jazz<br />
Children's Project. The event, intended to serve a predominantly African-American community, will also include<br />
a tribute to vocalist Marvin Gaye.<br />
MVLE, Inc.<br />
$10,000 Springfield, VA<br />
To support an artist residency by choreographer Margot Greenlee. A production titled "Everyday Oz" will<br />
incorporate dance, monologues, music, and audience participation. It will feature a mixed ability cast of<br />
professional dancers working alongside people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Per<strong>for</strong>mances will be<br />
presented onsite at MVLE's facilities, as well as at four partner venues in Virginia: <strong>the</strong> Fort Belvoir USO, a local<br />
high school, <strong>the</strong> Fairfax County Government Center, and <strong>the</strong> Workhouse <strong>Arts</strong> Center in Lorton.<br />
Magic City Smooth Jazz<br />
$10,000 Birmingham, AL<br />
To support Jazz in <strong>the</strong> Park, a series of free concerts in community parks located throughout <strong>the</strong> state of<br />
Alabama. An estimated 150 emerging Alabama-area jazz musicians will per<strong>for</strong>m along with 20-30 established<br />
artists. Partnering with area arts councils and municipalities, Jazz in <strong>the</strong> Park draws families from varied ethnic,<br />
socio-economic, and geographic communities, increasing opportunities <strong>for</strong> residents to experience arts and<br />
culture closer to <strong>the</strong>ir homes.<br />
Mankato Symphony Orchestra Association Inc.<br />
$10,000 Mankato, MN<br />
To support Sephardic Journeys, an orchestral concert of Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) music in collaboration with<br />
rising composter/violinist Ittai Shapira. Per<strong>for</strong>med by <strong>the</strong> Mankato Symphony Orchestra and featuring Shapira<br />
and cellist Tony Ross as soloists, <strong>the</strong> concert is intended to serve a growing immigrant community in Mankato,<br />
Minnesota, and facilitate understanding between <strong>the</strong> rapidly diversifying population. Supplementary activities<br />
will include visits to local schools, a panel discussion on music and <strong>the</strong> immigrant experience, and outreach work<br />
by <strong>the</strong> guest artists and symphony staff and musicians to bring awareness of <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance to rural and<br />
nontraditional communities.<br />
Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, Inc. (aka MJCCA)<br />
$10,000 Dunwoody, GA<br />
To support a <strong>the</strong>atrical production by <strong>the</strong> Jerry Habima Theatre program, featuring actors with disabilities. The<br />
production of "The Wizard of Oz" will feature Geoffrey Uterhardt in <strong>the</strong> role of <strong>the</strong> Scarecrow. As guest artist,<br />
