To support <strong>the</strong> multidisciplinary series Porous Borders: All Over The Map. The series of free participatory events,<br />
curated by Power House Productions and resident artists The Hinterlands, will explore complex issues such as<br />
land use, history, identity, and language that run through <strong>the</strong> diverse cultural community of Banglatown along<br />
<strong>the</strong> Detroit/Hamtramck, Michigan border. Featured artists may include writer Maia Asshaq (Iraq),<br />
multidisciplinary artist Ludmilla Ferrari, sound artist Billy Mark, and writer Casey Rocheteau.<br />
ReStart, Inc.<br />
$15,000 Kansas City, MO<br />
To support <strong>Arts</strong> at ReStart. In partnership with Kansas City professional arts organizations and artists, ReStart<br />
will provide arts programming to homeless youth and adults in disciplines such as architecture, comic arts,<br />
dance, film, opera, photography, poetry, <strong>the</strong>ater, and visual arts. Participants will attend per<strong>for</strong>mances and<br />
exhibitions, as well as workshops and classes. Each unit will conclude with a per<strong>for</strong>mance or exhibit highlighting<br />
and celebrating <strong>the</strong> participants' accomplishments.<br />
Regents of <strong>the</strong> University of Cali<strong>for</strong>nia at Santa Barbara (On behalf of <strong>Arts</strong> & Lectures)<br />
$25,000 Santa Barbara, CA<br />
To support a multidisciplinary presenting series at <strong>Arts</strong> & Lectures. <strong>Arts</strong> & Lectures will present artists in a<br />
variety of artistic disciplines, including dance, <strong>the</strong>ater, and music. In addition to per<strong>for</strong>ming, artists will engage<br />
students and community members through tailored residency activities that may include workshops, master<br />
classes, and panel discussions.<br />
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (aka RPI)<br />
$20,000 Troy, NY<br />
To support artist residencies at <strong>the</strong> Experimental Media and Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Center. Artists from a number of<br />
disciplines will use <strong>the</strong> center's facilities to create works investigating <strong>the</strong> intersection of art, media, technology,<br />
and science. Artists will be provided with rehearsal and production space, technological support, lodging, and<br />
artist fees. Selected artists participating in residencies may include media artist in collaboration with<br />
choreographers Raushan Mitchel and Silas Reiner, multidisciplinary artists/choreographers Brennan Gerard and<br />
Ryan Kelly, composer Enno Poppe (Germany),multidisciplinary artist Laure Provost, composer Kate Soper,<br />
multimedia artist Isabelle Pauwels, choreographer Mary Armentrout, choreographer Trajal Harrell, and<br />
multidisciplinary artist Andrew Schneider in collaboration with sound designer Bobby McElver.<br />
Rhythm Foundation, Inc.<br />
$25,000 Miami Beach, FL<br />
To support Community Ballroom, a participatory music and dance series. Each night in <strong>the</strong> series, a band will<br />
play music <strong>for</strong> a specific social dance, such as swing, salsa, samba, tango, or ballroom. Be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>the</strong> band per<strong>for</strong>ms,<br />
professional dance instructors from local studios will give a lesson so participants may learn <strong>the</strong> evening's dance.<br />
Rochester Fringe Festival, Inc. (aka Rochester Fringe Festival)<br />
$25,000 Rochester, NY<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> Rochester Fringe Festival. The festival will feature local and national artists. Activities will take<br />
place throughout downtown Rochester, and may include <strong>the</strong>ater, musical <strong>the</strong>ater, comedy, dance, music, visual<br />
