project will include visual arts exhibits and demonstrations; Cajun, Zydeco, jazz, bluegrass, country, blues,<br />

gospel, and traditional Native American music concerts; and o<strong>the</strong>r diverse artistic expressions. Related outreach<br />

will include an accordion workshop, a Cajun dance class, and a bluegrass lecture-demonstration session with <strong>the</strong><br />

bluegrass group <strong>the</strong> Clancey Ferguson Band.<br />

Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Inc. (aka OIGC)<br />

$10,000 Oakland, CA<br />

To support a free gospel concert featuring pianist, composer, and arranger Dr. Edwin Hawkins, with related<br />

outreach. The project, intended to serve economically disadvantaged, primarily African-American residents, will<br />

feature Hawkins, vocalists Calvin B. Rhone and Linda Tillery, and guest choirs from <strong>the</strong> U.S. and abroad. Hawkins<br />

will also premiere a new composition and conduct a per<strong>for</strong>mance by <strong>the</strong> International Interfaith Gospel Music<br />

Choir. Associated outreach activities will include workshops and panel discussions covering composition, choir<br />

management, organizational growth, board development, and per<strong>for</strong>mance techniques <strong>for</strong> choirs and solo<br />

vocalists.<br />

One Voice Mixed Chorus<br />

$10,000 St. Paul, MN<br />

To support a concert <strong>for</strong> LGBTQ youth. Primarily serving low-income, ethnically diverse LGBTQ youth, One Voice<br />

Mixed Chorus will partner with nationally recognized string quartet Well-Strung to per<strong>for</strong>m a concert and<br />

premiere a new work highlighting <strong>the</strong> experience of queer youth <strong>for</strong> students and families in <strong>the</strong> St. Paul Public<br />

School District. Choral workshops will be held in St. Paul public schools prior to <strong>the</strong> concert, where students will<br />

have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to work with and learn from professional musicians. Well-Strung will also host a questionand-answer<br />

session with students after <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance. Free tickets will be provided <strong>for</strong> students.<br />

Ozark Foothills Filmfest, Inc.<br />

$10,000 Locust Grove, AR<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Ozark Foothills FilmFest, a rural festival that will showcase animation, independent film,<br />

narrative, and documentary films, with related activities. Programs will incorporate question-and-answer<br />

sessions following most film screenings. The project will also feature panel discussions with filmmakers,<br />

including a panel about creating au<strong>the</strong>ntic portrayals of <strong>the</strong> people, places, and practices unique to rural<br />

America.<br />

PHAME Academy (aka PHAME)<br />

$10,000 Portland, OR<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> development and per<strong>for</strong>mance of "In a Single Breath," a multidisciplinary work that will feature<br />

artists with and without disabilities, and related activities. Curated and directed by playwright Mat<strong>the</strong>w Zrebski,<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>atrical production will feature a combination of scenes created by Zrebski and students who participated<br />

in PHAME creative writing, digital photography, visual art, and dance classes. PHAME student per<strong>for</strong>mers and<br />

professional actors in Portland, Oregon, will <strong>for</strong>m an integrated cast of per<strong>for</strong>mers with and without<br />

developmental disabilities. Tickets will be provided to local organizations who serve people with disabilities.<br />

Post-per<strong>for</strong>mance discussions with Zrebski and per<strong>for</strong>mers are planned.<br />

Pahrump Visual and Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Council (aka Pahrump <strong>Arts</strong> Council)<br />

$10,000 Pahrump, NV<br />

To support <strong>Arts</strong> Americana, a series of multidisciplinary per<strong>for</strong>mances and related activities. The series will<br />

include a variety per<strong>for</strong>mances, demonstrations, film screenings, and discussions <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> underserved rural<br />
