Detroit Institute of <strong>Arts</strong> (aka DIA)<br />
$55,000 Detroit, MI<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> reinstallation of <strong>the</strong> collection of East, South, and Sou<strong>the</strong>ast Asian art. The reinstallation will<br />
consist of approximately 200 artworks that span more than 4,500 years, representing human culture from <strong>the</strong><br />
Neolithic period to contemporary time. Areas that will be represented in <strong>the</strong> exhibition include modern<br />
Afghanistan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Nepal, and Vietnam. The museum will include<br />
laypeople with connections to <strong>the</strong> many diverse Asian communities in conceptual conversations to in<strong>for</strong>m<br />
decisions regarding <strong>the</strong> ambitious reinstallation. A visitor-centered approach will make old objects relevant to<br />
today's technologies, using beacon technology to communicate with smart devices. The project is expected to<br />
reach individuals from underserved communities by providing free transportation to all city schools, surrounding<br />
county schools, and <strong>the</strong> Detroit Veterans Administration Hospital.<br />
Dia Center <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> (aka Dia Art Foundation)<br />
$25,000 New York, NY<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> exhibition and catalogue <strong>for</strong>, "Charlotte Posenenske: 1954-1968." The exhibition will feature<br />
Posenenske (1930-85), an influential yet overlooked figure in <strong>the</strong> history of both minimal and post-minimal art.<br />
Approximately 70 original prototypes, and authorized reproduction works from international and private<br />
collections will be exhibited alongside German artists Joseph Beuys, Imi Knoebel, Blinky Palermo, and Frank<br />
Erhard Wal<strong>the</strong>r, as well as American artists Carl Andre and Sol LeWitt. The presentation will offer <strong>the</strong> most<br />
comprehensive museum exhibition of Posenenske's work to be mounted in <strong>the</strong> United States to date and will<br />
contextualize her work and legacy within international contemporary art of <strong>the</strong> 1960s and '70s. The exhibition<br />
will be accompanied by public programs including gallery talks, curator-led tours, and interactive components to<br />
engage <strong>the</strong> audience.<br />
Duke University (On behalf of Nasher Museum of Art)<br />
$60,000 Durham, NC<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> exhibition, "Nina Chanel Abney: Royal Flush." The solo exhibition at <strong>the</strong> Nasher Museum of Art<br />
will feature approximately 50 drawings, collages, and paintings, including mural-sized triptychs by Chicago-born<br />
artist Nina Chanel Abney, (b. 1982), whose narrative figurative style articulates complex social dynamics through<br />
humor, irreverence, and satire. A skillful storyteller, Abney's works address social attitudes and inequities. The<br />
museum will offer a workshop <strong>for</strong> educators to demonstrate how <strong>the</strong> artist's work can help facilitate difficult<br />
conversations related to contemporary concerns. Extensive public programming is planned, including a<br />
sustained engagement ef<strong>for</strong>t <strong>for</strong> a team of high school students. It is anticipated that <strong>the</strong> exhibition will travel to<br />
<strong>the</strong> Chicago Cultural Center and several o<strong>the</strong>r venues.<br />
El Museo Latino<br />
$35,000 Omaha, NE<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> exhibition, " Three Feminine Views of Mexico," and related programming. The project will focus<br />
on <strong>the</strong> topic of immigrants and immigration in Nebraska. Planned to coincide with <strong>the</strong> state's 150th anniversary,<br />
<strong>the</strong> exhibitions will cover historic imagery, urban renewal and development in Omaha, and contemporary life in<br />
Mexico and Cuba. The exhibitions will feature work by contemporary artists such as Mina Barcenas (b. 1965),<br />
and <strong>the</strong> pioneering photographer Mariana Yampolsky (1925-2002). Public programming will include art<br />
workshops and artist lectures.<br />

$50,000 Philadelphia, PA<br />
