To support <strong>Arts</strong> Education/Community Ecosystem (<strong>Arts</strong>ECO) professional development program. The Peck<br />

School of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Department of Art & Design will provide hands-on experiences in art, technology, and digital<br />

fabrication <strong>for</strong> cross-section of Milwaukee-area teachers from <strong>the</strong> arts, sciences, and engineering. The institutes<br />

will help teachers develop new skills and teaching approaches in creativity and innovation and develop a strong<br />

network of educators who teach <strong>the</strong>ir students art, design, and technology.<br />

Unusual Suspects Theatre Co. (aka The Unusual Suspects, US)<br />

$10,000 Los Angeles, CA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Youth Theater Residency Program. Led by professional artists, students will study <strong>the</strong>ater arts to<br />

improve <strong>the</strong>ir knowledge about <strong>the</strong>ater, literacy, and communication skills, create <strong>the</strong>ir own plays, and<br />

collaboratively produce and per<strong>for</strong>m in each o<strong>the</strong>r's plays. Students will study story development, script writing,<br />

and improvisation techniques that will help <strong>the</strong>m develop onstage per<strong>for</strong>mance skills and improve <strong>the</strong>ir reading,<br />

writing, public speaking skills, and help <strong>the</strong>m gain confidence to make positive life choices. Focused on youth in<br />

<strong>the</strong> juvenile justice system and those placed under foster care, <strong>the</strong> project will serve at-risk youth of all ages.<br />

Urbano Project, Inc. (aka Urbano Project)<br />

$45,000 Boston, MA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Artists' Projects and Urbano Fellows programs. Boston-area public high school students and<br />

recent graduates representing diverse communities from across <strong>the</strong> city will study contemporary<br />

multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary arts through mentorship, studio work, class discussions, site visits, public<br />

dialogue, and production of public arts events. Students participating in Artists' Projects will study with<br />

professional practicing artists in curricula modeled on college-level arts seminars, emphasizing conceptual<br />

exploration, experimentation, revision, collaboration as well as technical skill. Students who successfully<br />

complete <strong>the</strong> projects <strong>for</strong> at least two semesters may, as Urbano Fellows, serve as peer leaders who also<br />

research and conceptualize new ideas, produce artwork, and organize public art exhibitions.<br />

Venice <strong>Arts</strong> (aka Venice <strong>Arts</strong>)<br />

$10,000 Venice, CA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Art Mentoring and Education Program. Youth will receive free, technologically intensive arts<br />

instruction with a focus on art creation in photography, filmmaking, and digital media. Students also will receive<br />

<strong>the</strong> mentoring support needed to succeed in submitting <strong>the</strong>ir work to exhibitions, competitions, and festivals.<br />

Webster University<br />

$15,000 St. Louis, MO<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Community Music School of Webster University's Preparatory Program (PREP). The instrumental<br />

music program <strong>for</strong> students residing in <strong>the</strong> greater St. Louis area offers high-caliber instruction from professional<br />

musicians in per<strong>for</strong>mance, music <strong>the</strong>ory, ear training, and sight-singing. Instructors are university faculty and<br />

established per<strong>for</strong>ming artists from organizations such as <strong>the</strong> St. Louis Symphony. Students learn a range of<br />

advanced repertoire <strong>for</strong> solo and chamber per<strong>for</strong>mances both on campus and in <strong>the</strong> community. Program<br />

components also include summer camps, master classes, and <strong>the</strong> opportunity to participate in a variety of music<br />

festivals as well as regional and national competitions.<br />

Wide Angle Youth Media, Inc.<br />

$15,000 Baltimore, MD<br />

To support Baltimore Speaks Out!, a media arts education program. Students will learn how to create videos<br />

about issues facing youth in <strong>the</strong>ir community. Videos created by students will be screened <strong>for</strong> family members,<br />
