New York Shakespeare Festival (aka The Public Theater) (On behalf of Joe's Pub)<br />

$25,000 New York, NY<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> New York Voices commissioning program at Joe's Pub. The program selects artists from a variety<br />

of disciplines and asks <strong>the</strong>m to explore <strong>the</strong>atrical storytelling and songwriting to create new multidisciplinary<br />

works. Joe's Pub also will connect <strong>the</strong> commissioned artists with creative teams to assist in <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

development of <strong>the</strong> works and make resources available to ensure a successful production. Selected artists<br />

include per<strong>for</strong>mance artist Joey Arias, per<strong>for</strong>mance artist Justin Vivian Bond, jazz ensemble The Hot Sardines,<br />

multidisciplinary artist Daniel Alexander Jones, singer Martha Redbone, and singer Somi.<br />

Oklahoma <strong>Arts</strong> Institute Inc (aka Oklahoma <strong>Arts</strong> Institute at Quartz Mountain)<br />

$15,000 Oklahoma City, OK<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Oklahoma Summer <strong>Arts</strong> Institute. The intensive summer program offers high school students<br />

from Oklahoma <strong>the</strong> opportunity to study with professional artists in a variety of artistic disciplines including<br />

acting, creative writing, ballet, modern dance, orchestra, chorus, drawing, painting, photography, and media<br />

arts. In addition to classes, students also attend per<strong>for</strong>mances, lectures, and workshops. The institute<br />

culminates with a showcase of student per<strong>for</strong>mances and exhibitions. Oklahoma <strong>Arts</strong> Institute provides all<br />

participating students with full scholarships to attend <strong>the</strong> program, including room and board.<br />

Omaha Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Society (aka Omaha Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong>)<br />

$20,000 Omaha, NE<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> presentation of "it gets better," a multidisciplinary per<strong>for</strong>mance work created by <strong>the</strong> Gay Men's<br />

Chorus of Los Angeles. The chorus will be in residence at <strong>the</strong> Omaha Pe<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Society, during which <strong>the</strong>y<br />

will work with local River City Mixed Chorus to create a unique presentation. In addition to per<strong>for</strong>mances, <strong>the</strong><br />

artists will partner with local high schools and community organizations to participate in roundtable discussions,<br />

workshops, and school visits.<br />

Open Channels New York, Inc. (aka Dixon Place)<br />

$15,000 New York, NY<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> HOT! Festival. Dixon Place will present <strong>the</strong>ater, dance, music, literature readings, puppetry,<br />

spoken-word, and per<strong>for</strong>mance art. The centerpiece of <strong>the</strong> festival will be a commission of Los Angeles-based,<br />

Sri Lankan American <strong>the</strong>ater/per<strong>for</strong>mance artist D'Lo.<br />

Per<strong>for</strong>mance Space 122, Inc. (aka PS122)<br />

$20,000 Brooklyn, NY<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> presentation of new works at <strong>the</strong> COIL Festival. PS122 will commission and present works from<br />

artists in disciplines including dance, <strong>the</strong>ater, and per<strong>for</strong>mance art. Featured artists may include choreographer<br />

Antony Hamilton (Australia), <strong>the</strong>ater artist Yehuda Duenyas, crossdisciplinary artist Yara Travieso, and<br />

choreographers Molly Lieber and Eleanor Smith.<br />

Portland Institute <strong>for</strong> Contemporary Art (aka PICA)<br />

$35,000 Portland, OR<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Time-Based Art Festival. PICA's festival will feature new and existing work from contemporary<br />

artists in <strong>the</strong>ater, dance, music, film, and visual arts. The festival also will offer engagement activities, such as<br />

workshops, lectures, and symposia, to address <strong>the</strong> overarching <strong>the</strong>mes of <strong>the</strong> work. For audiences that may be<br />

new to a particular art <strong>for</strong>m, PICA will offer <strong>the</strong> Field Guide series providing focused explorations of an artist's<br />
