exhibits, which will be disseminated to <strong>the</strong> public through <strong>the</strong> Google <strong>Arts</strong> and Culture App. The exhibits will<br />

serve as a model <strong>for</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r arts organizations that wish to share <strong>the</strong>ir own creative projects online.<br />

Maryland Institute (aka Maryland Institute College of Art)<br />

$100,000 Baltimore, MD<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Baltimore Creatives Acceleration Network (B/CAN), a series of creative entrepreneurship<br />

programs, in partnership with <strong>the</strong> Emerging Technology Centers (ETC). The project will include professional<br />

development programs, entrepreneurial training, and startup resources to support creative industries in<br />

Baltimore. The INCU-NET program will match and place select creatives in partner incubators <strong>for</strong> intensive<br />

entrepreneurship support to help <strong>the</strong>m build successful creative businesses. The ART-VANCE program will focus<br />

on business, financial, and legal planning; expert assistance; building marketing skills; and peer mentoring, both<br />

online and in-person. The CITI-NET program will focus on networking events to connect creatives with agents,<br />

resources, and each o<strong>the</strong>r, across different backgrounds. The B/CAN MOBILE program will provide pop-up<br />

access to services and mentors <strong>for</strong> a broad base of residents in neighborhoods across Baltimore. ETC will provide<br />

B/CAN participants with collaborative working space alongside tech business startups and business development<br />

entrepreneurs, as well as provide opportunities <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> INCU-NET cohorts to engage with mentors and potential<br />

investors.<br />

Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation, Inc. (aka MASS MoCA)<br />

$80,000 North Adams, MA<br />

To support Assets <strong>for</strong> Artists, in partnership with GreenPath. Assets <strong>for</strong> Artists serves low-income artists in New<br />

England with a cross-sector approach to capacity building, financial wellness, and asset development. In<br />

partnership with GreenPath, a nonprofit financial wellness organization, MASS MoCA will extend <strong>the</strong> reach of<br />

<strong>the</strong> program to serve artists nationwide. Artists will participate in extended financial wellness residencies at<br />

MASS MoCA, during which <strong>the</strong>y will have access to capital through matched savings accounts, professional<br />

development training, and personalized financial coaching. GreenPath will provide one-on-one advising from<br />

financial counselors, webinar simulcasts, and online educational tools. GreenPath also will develop and maintain<br />

an artist-focused online microsite with financial wellness in<strong>for</strong>mation specifically <strong>for</strong> self-employed artists.<br />

Media <strong>Arts</strong> Center San Diego (aka MACSD)<br />

$30,000 San Diego, CA<br />

To support Digital Gym on <strong>the</strong> Blvd, in partnership with <strong>the</strong> El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement<br />

Association. The collaborative community-based initiative will bring toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> Media <strong>Arts</strong> Center's Digital<br />

Gym Technology Center and Cinema, area digital artists, community members, and <strong>the</strong> El Cajon Boulevard<br />

Business Improvement District's small business and resident advisory groups. Members of <strong>the</strong> team will convene<br />

to discuss local issues of interest and to determine <strong>the</strong>mes and partnerships <strong>for</strong> outreach and related arts<br />

activities. Issues such as work<strong>for</strong>ce readiness, food security, aging in place and in community, understanding and<br />

creating public art, and small business development will be addressed through community dialogues and<br />

rein<strong>for</strong>ced through film screenings and interactive digital art exhibits. Proposed artists include multimedia artist<br />

Brennan Hubbell, digital artist Evan Apodaca, and multidisciplinary artist Perry Vasquez.<br />

Mercantile Library Association of <strong>the</strong> City of New York (aka The Center <strong>for</strong> Fiction)<br />

$50,000 New York, NY<br />

To support SYNTAX/SYNAPSE, a series of creative investigations exploring intersections between fiction and<br />

neuroscience, in partnership with Princeton University. The Center <strong>for</strong> Fiction will partner with <strong>the</strong> Princeton<br />

Social Neuroscience Lab to organize a year-long series that will examine how <strong>the</strong> brain works in conjunction with<br />

how novels impact our understanding of humanity. Planned activities include public events featuring a writer<br />
