Bemis Center <strong>for</strong> Contemporary <strong>Arts</strong> (aka Bemis Center)<br />
$25,000 Omaha, NE<br />
To support an artist residency program and related activities. Selected in an open call by a juried process,<br />
American and international artists will receive support to participate in residencies at one of Bemis's two<br />
facilities in Omaha. Toge<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong> facilities provide a large installation and per<strong>for</strong>mance space, a dark room, an<br />
art research library, computer stations, and a 10,000-square-feet sculpture and ceramics facility.<br />
Big Car Media, Inc. (aka Big Car Collaborative)<br />
$25,000 Indianapolis, IN<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> Art and Public Life Residency. Big Car Collaborative resident artists will work with area business<br />
people to organize pop-up artist residencies. This is an ef<strong>for</strong>t to spur interest in <strong>the</strong> commercial corridor; build<br />
relationships between business owners, artists, and neighbors; and provide resident artists with unique venues<br />
and inspiration <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir work. Big Car Collaborative also will host monthly mini-festivals featuring artwork and<br />
music during citywide First Friday events.<br />
Byrd Hoffman Watermill Foundation (aka The Watermill Center)<br />
$15,000 New York, NY<br />
To support artist residencies and related activities. Individual artists and artist collectives will be provided space,<br />
resources, and financial support to create and publicly present <strong>the</strong>ir work at The Watermill Center. Residencies<br />
will be designed to overlap to foster spontaneous collaborations and peer review among participating artists.<br />
CEC <strong>Arts</strong>Link, Inc. (aka CEC <strong>Arts</strong>Link)<br />
$25,000 New York, NY<br />
To support residencies in <strong>the</strong> United States <strong>for</strong> international artists and managers. Artists primarily from<br />
countries in Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Central Asia, and <strong>the</strong> Eastern Mediterranean will be selected through an<br />
open call juried process and <strong>the</strong>n placed in artist communities and nonprofit cultural organizations throughout<br />
<strong>the</strong> United States. Resident artists will be matched with organizations providing experiences relevant to <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
professional and creative goals.<br />
Corporation of Yaddo (aka Yaddo)<br />
$20,000 Saratoga Springs, NY<br />
To support residencies <strong>for</strong> collaborative teams from all artistic disciplines. Artist teams will utilize a multipurpose<br />
studio building with workspaces particularly conducive to collaborative work that crosses disciplines, defies<br />
traditional styles, and requires fully concentrated time in a shared space. Working in conjunction with local<br />
schools and libraries, Yaddo will provide volunteer opportunities <strong>for</strong> artists to engage with <strong>the</strong> community<br />
through readings and/or exhibitions.<br />
Crosshatch Center <strong>for</strong> Art & Ecology (aka Crosshatch)<br />
$10,000 Bellaire, MI<br />
To support artist residencies based on storytelling. In <strong>the</strong> Long Memory Project, a group of songwriters and<br />
poets will listen to local residents of <strong>the</strong> surrounding farming community. After listening and recording <strong>the</strong><br />
stories, <strong>the</strong> artists will translate <strong>the</strong>m into stories, songs, and poems. The artists and local residents will<br />
reconvene <strong>for</strong> a per<strong>for</strong>mance at <strong>the</strong> City Opera House.<br />
Djerassi Resident Artists Program<br />
$15,000 Woodside, CA<br />
