Alberta Bair Theater Corporation<br />

$10,000 Billings, MT<br />

To support New Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> in <strong>the</strong> Old West. Per<strong>for</strong>mances of music and dance will be paired with<br />

associated activities such as public discussions, a school matinee, and a master class. The <strong>the</strong>ater's programming<br />

serves an audience from small rural communities throughout south central Montana and nor<strong>the</strong>rn Wyoming.<br />

Proposed artists include contemporary dance company Dance Theatre of Harlem and <strong>the</strong> classically trained<br />

violinist pair, Black Violin.<br />

Alpine Artisans Inc.<br />

$10,000 Seeley Lake, MT<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> In <strong>the</strong> Footsteps of Norman Maclean Festival, celebrating American literature and Western<br />

writers whose work has focused on <strong>the</strong> concepts of wilderness and water. The event is inspired by <strong>the</strong> local<br />

Blackfoot River featured in Maclean's novella, "A River Runs Through It." The festival includes events such as a<br />

writing residency <strong>for</strong> rural students, a memoir-writing workshop <strong>for</strong> local seniors, author events, and a film<br />

screening and discussion, as well as historical presentations by members of <strong>the</strong> Blackfeet and Salish-Kootenai<br />

Tribes, geologists, and conservationists. The proposed guest artist is author Annick Smith, screenwriter and<br />

executive producer of Robert Red<strong>for</strong>d's film, "A River Runs Through It."<br />

American Dance Asylum, Inc.<br />

$10,000 Corning, NY<br />

To support per<strong>for</strong>mances by Artichoke Dance Company and Kate Weare Company in geographically isolated<br />

communities of New York. Artichoke Dance Company (Brooklyn, New York) will offer workshops and a<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance as part of <strong>the</strong> Liberate <strong>the</strong> Earth Dance Project held at Art Omi in Hudson, New York. A residency<br />

by Kate Weare Company (New York City) held in Geneva, New York, will include master classes, an open<br />

rehearsal, and a dance concert.<br />

Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Society, Inc.<br />

$10,000 Little Rock, AR<br />

To support Mahler: Resurrection and associated outreach activities. Proposed guest artists soprano Kristin Lewis<br />

and mezzo soprano Christin Marie Hill will lead workshops <strong>for</strong> student musicians and community members, held<br />

at schools and community venues serving economically, ethnically, and geographically underserved groups.<br />

Lewis and Hill will also per<strong>for</strong>m as soloists in a public per<strong>for</strong>mance of Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 2,<br />

Resurrection" by <strong>the</strong> Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.<br />

ArtBridge Projects Inc (aka ArtBridge)<br />

$10,000 New York, NY<br />

To support Bridging <strong>the</strong> Divide, a temporary public art project. Professional artists will work with local middle<br />

school and high school students to create <strong>the</strong> artwork <strong>for</strong> installation. Student artwork will be photographed<br />

and reproduced on vinyl banners which will be installed along temporary fencing surrounding a construction site<br />

in Queensbridge Park in <strong>the</strong> economically underserved Ravenswood neighborhood of Queens in New York City.<br />

ArtStream, Inc.<br />

$10,000 Silver Spring, MD<br />

To support Inclusive Theatre Companies. As many as six Inclusive Theatre Companies, located in both Virginia<br />

and Maryland, will create and produce original musical <strong>the</strong>ater per<strong>for</strong>mances. Professional actors will work with<br />
